This study sought to assess ocular surface disease changes following cataract surgery combined with trabecular micro-bypass stent(s) implantation (iStent or iStent inject). This prospective interventional single-arm clinical trial enrolled 47 eyes mild-to-moderate open-angle glaucoma (OAG) on 1-4 medications who underwent phacoemulsification and implantation. Key data through 3 months postoperatively included the Ocular Surface Disease Index score (OSDI), corneal/conjunctival staining (Oxford...
AbstractThe authors reviewed the charts of 22 patients with Peters' anomaly. Various surgical procedures were performed on 30 eyes 18 (mean number = 3.3 per eye). Follow-up averaged six years. Visual acuity varied widely, having an 20/400 or better, and 11 no light perception. Concomitant secondary glaucoma required a greater (4.1 vs 3.4) eye was associated poorer visual outcome. No had better than 20/400. In bilaterally operated patients, results in one independent outcome fellow eye. The...
The efficacy of foldable silicone intraocular lenses in combined glaucoma/cataract surgery was retrospectively analyzed 19 consecutive operations. Preoperatively all patients were receiving medical treatment for glaucoma; 21% had pressures above 21 mm Hg despite the therapy. Postoperatively, reduction pressure to or less achieved 84% eyes, with 58% requiring no antiglaucoma medications. Mean improvement Snellen visual acuity 4.9 lines; eyes a final 20/40 better. Median follow-up 59 weeks...

Purpose: To compare the preservative-free corticosteroid 0.2% betamethasone sodium phosphate BID (SURF-201) to vehicle in patients undergoing routine cataract surgery. Methods: Phase 2, multicenter, randomized (1:1 ratio), double-masked, vehicle-controlled, parallel-group study scheduled for uncomplicated surgery without aid of a femtosecond laser. Subjects instilled topical medications 16 days beginning day before (Day − 1), 1 dose administered at least hour prior (on Day 0) and on evening...
Although corrected loss variance (CLV) may enhance the sensitivity of field examinations in early stages glaucoma, value CLV has not been investigated with advancing glaucoma. In this study we report mean defect (MD) and for 266 Octopus (a total 57 eyes 47 patients open-angle glaucoma) collected over a period approximately 6 years on stored database system. We find that is generally elevated (relative to normal controls) independent MD. However, level does vary increasing as indicated by A...
To describe the early real-world experience of physicians with an intracanalicular dexamethasone insert (DEX) in patients undergoing cataract surgery and to capture clinical impact adopting this therapy.23 United States sites including Ambulatory Surgical Center Setting (ASC) Outpatient Clinical settings. Respondents were who had DEX patients. This was a Phase 4 experiential cross-sectional survey study comprised 3 sequential online physician surveys. Descriptive statistics summarized...
Octopus visual fields were compared for three groups of patients: (1) diagnosed glaucoma patients; (2) glaucoma-suspect patients, and (3) control observers. Four field indices analyzed each field: mean sensitivity, short-term fluctuation (root square), defect, corrected loss variance. Among the four indices, variance was only index that discriminated group from group, while, as expected, differed other two study all indices. These data support view may provide highly sensitive information on...
Purpose: To evaluate both the early experience of real-world patients treated with dexamethasone ophthalmic insert (0.4 mg; DEXTENZA ® ), hereafter referred to as DEX, after cataract surgery well staff/practice integration DEX relative eyedrops. Patients and Methods: This was a cross-sectional survey study 23 practices in United States. Respondents were practice staff who had following surgery. Both completed an online survey. Descriptive statistics summarized responses portray respondents....
