本研究の目的は,人間や動物の赤ちゃん,およびキャラクターやモノに対する“かわいい”感情を共感性や親和動機によって予測するモデルを構築することであった。582名の大学生に対して,多次元的共感性尺度,親和動機尺度,各対象に対する“かわいい”感情の評定尺度で構成される質問紙調査を行った。モデルに性差が見られるか検討するために多母集団同時分析を行った結果,人間や動物の赤ちゃんだけではなく,モノに対する“かわいい”感情も共感性が予測することが示された。モデルに性差はなく,共感性が高いほど,これらの対象に対しては“かわいい”感情を抱きやすいことがわかった。親和動機は人間の赤ちゃんに対する“かわいい”感情のみ予測した。一方,キャラクターに対する“かわいい”感情は共感性,親和動機のいずれによっても予測されなかった。社会的動機としての親和動機に加えて接近動機を測定し,共感性や“かわいい”感情との関係を調べる必要性が議論された。

近年のメタ分析の結果から,社交不安症に対するさまざまな薬物療法と精神療法の効果を比較した場合,Clark & WellsやHeimbergのモデルに基づく個人対象の認知行動療法が最も有効であることが示されている。一方,そのメタ分析において十分な治療効果が得られない患者の存在も指摘されており,さらなる治療の改善が求められている。社交不安症の認知行動療法では,恐れている社交場面への曝露が共通して含まれているが,その基礎理論となる恐怖条件づけと消去に関する認知神経科学の発展が著しい。本稿では,この認知神経科学の発展に基づいてエクスポージャーの改善を提唱しているCraskeのinhibitory learningや,不安症の治療法としても注目されているアクセプタンス&コミットメント・セラピーの観点から,社交不安症の認知行動療法の治療効果を高めるためのエッセンスをまとめることを目的とした。
