This paper employs data from selected sample survey areas in the northern Fertile Crescent to demonstrate how initial urbanization developed along several pathways. The first, during Late Chalcolithic period, was within a dense pattern of rural settlement. There followed profound shift settlement that resulted formation large walled or ramparted sites ('citadel cities') associated with more dynamic phase exemplified by short cycles growth and collapse. By later third millennium BC,...
ABSTRACT This paper presents the results of a pilot study that combines findings from satellite remote sensing analyses and an intensive interdisciplinary survey conducted in November 2021 on kurgans along Kurekçay Valley, western Azerbaijan. Through integration various methods, including historical contemporary aerial imagery analysis, topographic mapping geophysical prospections, this research remotely maps quantifies density, size, morphology distribution burial mounds area. Unlike...
Urbanization occupies an ambiguous position in the development of Middle Euphrates region Turkey and Syria, part because area frequently formed a contested between other stronger Early Bronze Age polities. This paper aims to review evidence from series archaeological surveys illustrate trends settlement during 4th 3rd millennium BC. Re-analysis survey data three exemplar regions demonstrates that by including away main Valley we get picture two zones corresponding agro-ecological zones. In...
The variation in the glass transition temperature of thin polymeric films represents a phenomenon yet to be fully explained. To date, it is widely agreed that linked interfaces film forms with air and supporting substrate. Herein, we address one main issues regarding viscoelastic behavior region near free interface thick polystyrene where reduction expected occur. We have measured, as function temperature, elastic viscous responses molecular weights above below critical value for occurrence...
Monte Carlo simulations are used to study the effect of confinement on a crystal point particles interacting with an inverse power law potential $\ensuremath{\propto}{r}^{\ensuremath{-}12}$ in $d=2$ dimensions. This system can describe colloidal at air-water interface, model for experimental two-dimensional melting. It is shown that state (a strip width $D$) depends very sensitively precise boundary conditions two ``walls'' providing confinement. If one uses corrugated commensurate order...
Fast echographic multiparameter multi-image novel apparatus (FEMMINA), is a hardware and software platform dedicated to ultrasonic signal image processing. FEMMINA able operate with sequences of radio-frequency (RF) frames. Its architecture designed be modular, expandable, aimed at implementing different investigation techniques. The first experimental characteristic this system in its capability real time RF signals, starting from acquisition up processing, storage, visualization. second...
A coaxial microwave applicator radiating in a liquid medium contained inside chemical reactor is described. The consists of an insulated asymmetrical dipole antenna that radiates almost isotropically. Hence, it appears well suited to directly heat the fills vessel, making unnecessary use oven as currently done assisted chemistry. electromagnetic (EM) properties emitting high permittivity lossy media are first reviewed define design criteria. 3-D numerical EM solver then employed analyze...
We investigate the nature of ordered phase for a model colloidal particles confined within quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) strip between two parallel boundaries, or walls, separated distance $D$ in dimensions (2D). Using Monte Carlo simulations we find that at densities typical bulk 2D triangular solid order D1D is determined by boundaries. While enhanced suitably corrugated boundary potential, uniformly repulsive smooth potential ordering normal to walls (``layering''), but destroyed wall.
This article gives an overview of a novel, experimentally simple and versatile method activation chemical processes with microwaves without resorting to oven. It is based on the use microwave antenna, namely open-end coaxial dipole applicator immersed in ordinary reaction vessel. Accounts apparatus at 2450 MHz procedures adopted reactions organic synthesis, extraction essential oils from plants photo catalytic mineralization liquid pollutants are given, discussing necessary safety measures....
Purpose Drawing on a EU-funded research project urbanisation in China and Europe (URBACHINA), the purpose of this inquiry is to explore potential foresight – through visionary scenarios related participatory processes promoting learning sustainable futures China’s centrally planned context. Our explores use backcasting, Donella Meadows’ “levers” Paul Raskin’s “proximate-ultimate drivers” archetypal worldviews further our understanding how we think about future, tension between transition...
Abstract
The nature of the melting transition for a system hard discs with translational degrees freedom in two spatial dimensions has been analysed by combination computer simulation methods and finite size scaling technique. behaviour is consistent predictions Kosterlitz–Thouless–Halperin–Nelson–Young (KTHNY) theory.
Ordering phenomena in colloidal dispersions exposed to external one-dimensional, periodic fields or under confinement are studied systematically by Monte Carlo computer simulations. Such systems useful models for the study of monolayers on a substrate. We find that interaction with substrate potential completely changes miscibility binary, hard disc mixture at low field amplitudes. The underlying ordering mechanisms leading this laser-induced de-mixing differ, depending which components...
Purpose: To evaluate the tolerability and safety of a newly designed probe for trans-perineal microwave thermoablation (TPMT) prostate in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), vivo effects on tissue. Patients Methods: Nine obstructive BPH who were candidates open prostatectomy selected this study. Under local anesthesia transrectal ultrasound monitoring, all underwent single standardized application TPMT. The visual analog scale (VAS) Short Form-36 health survey (SF-36)...
This article argues that a better management of increasingly complex socio-ecological systems would require to adopt evidence-based policy-making and improve the science–policy interface by means participatory action research involving scientists, citizens policy-makers. The connectivity between production scientific evidence experts delivery policies policy-makers is currently unsatisfactory. There need find more effective knowledge mechanisms researchers A new way connecting scientists...
Two interconnected electronic platforms were designed to realize an experimental, modular and expandable system allowing the researchers develop test different ultrasonic investigation techniques. The first experimental characteristic of this lays in its capability operate real time with radio frequency (RF) signals, starting from illumination function, down acquisition, processing, storage visualization. second is interactivity allow modify operation appropriately while observing results at...
