To verify the effectiveness of percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) in treatment large (>30-mL) hyperfunctioning thyroid nodules.Twelve patients (eight women, four men; age range, 26-76 years) with a nodule (volume 33-90 mL; mean, 46.08 mL) underwent PEI under ultrasonographic (US) guidance. US was used to calculate volume nodules and assess diffusion lesions during procedure. When incomplete necrosis depicted at scintigraphy performed 3 months after treatment, additional sessions were...

Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (CD26/DPP-IV) is an ectoenzyme expressed on different cell types. Signaling properties and functional consequences of the CD26 triggering have been elucidated mostly T cells, where molecule delivers a costimulatory signal that potentiates T-cell activation through receptor. We conducted studies in human hepatocarcinoma-derived PLC/PRF/5 line to examine transduction its absence other T-cell-specific membrane molecules. Engagement cells specific antibody induces...

At initial radiological evaluation an intestinal ilea-ileal intussusception diagnosed but computed tomography showed hypointense material chambered aspect likely due to accidental ingestion of exogenous material. The presence endoscopically confirmed patient underwent surgery its manual removal.
