Systematic exploration of the hadal zone, Earth's deepest oceanic realm, has historically faced technical limitations. Here, we collected 1,648 sediment samples at 6-11 km in Mariana Trench, Yap and Philippine Basin for Trench Environment Ecology Research (MEER) project. Metagenomic 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing generated 92-Tbp MEER dataset, comprising 7,564 species (89.4% unreported), indicating high taxonomic novelty. Unlike reported environments, neutral drift played a minimal role,...
During the Pleistocene epoch, diatom mat blooming occurred in global ocean for serval times, particularly during several glacial periods (MIS 14, 12, 6, 4, 2). One intriguing phenomenon related to these is deposition of Ethmodiscus rex mats tropical-subtropical oligotrophic marine zones. However, causal mechanism this occurrence, known as " problem remains under debate and it crucial understand mechanism. This study investigates core GT01, which was enriched E. retrieved from Mariana...
Abstract. Viruses have been acknowledged as being important components of the marine system for past 2 decades, but their role in functioning geochemical cycle has not thoroughly elucidated to date. Virus-induced rupturing cyanobacteria is theoretically capable releasing intracellular bicarbonate and inducing homogeneous nucleation calcium carbonate; however, experiment-based support virus-induced calcification lacking. In this laboratory study, both water carbonate chemistry precipitates...
Abstract Volcanic ash is a major component of marine sediment, but its effect on the deep-sea carbon cycle remains enigmatic. Here, we analyzed mineralogical compositions and glycerol dialkyl tetraether (GDGT) membrane lipids in submarine tuffs from Mariana Trough, demonstrating fraction organic associated with volcanic produced situ. This likely derives chemolithotrophic communities supported by alteration material. Tuff GDGTs are characterized enrichment branched GDGTs, as communities....
Hadal trenches have higher microbial carbon turnover rates as compared to adjacent abyssal plains. However, the source of organic in trench remains enigmatic. In this study, we show that a fraction is possibly derived situ and correlated with chemoautotrophic communities supported by fluid discharge water-rock interaction wall, based on analysis glycerol dialkyl tetraether (GDGT) membrane lipids, including archaeal isoprenoid GDGTs (IsoGDGTs) bacterial branched (BrGDGTs), sediments rocks...
Abstract Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), integral components of the tumor microenvironment, play a pivotal role in proliferation, metastasis, and clinical outcomes. However, its specific roles Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma (KIRC) remain poorly understood. Employing established Seurat single-cell analysis pipeline, we identified 21 CAFs marker genes. Subsequently, prognostic signature consisting 6 genes ( RGS5 , PGF TPM2 GJA4 SEPT4 PLXDC1 ) was developed cohort through univariate...
