The thermal conductive properties, including the diffusivity and resultant conductivity, of nonwoven nanocellulose sheets were investigated by separately measuring in in-plane thickness directions with a periodic heating method. cross-sectional area (or width) cellulose crystallites was main determinant properties. Thus, results strongly indicate that there is crystallite size effect on phonon conduction within sheets. also indicated large interfacial resistance between surfaces. propagation...

Pyranopyrandiones were prepared by a novel ruthenium-catalyzed carbonylative dimerization of cyclopropenones via C-C bond cleavage. For example, treatment dipropylcyclopropenone with catalytic amount Ru3(CO)12 and NEt3 in THF under 15 atm carbon monoxide at 140 degrees C for 20 h gave functional monomer, 3,4,7,8-tetrapropylpyrano[6,5-e]pyran-2,6-dione, an isolated yield 81%. Unsymmetrically substituted pyranopyrandiones also obtained coupling alkynes similar reaction conditions.

We developed flexible polymeric "heat-guiding materials" by simply drawing bacterial cellulose (BC) hydrogels to align the nanofibers and form "nanopapers" with anisotropic thermal conductivity. The in-plane anisotropy of conductivity between drawn transverse directions increased as draw ratio increased. For BC nanopapers, coefficient expansion was found be inversely correlated diffusivity. fabricated a planar spiral sheet assembling strips visualize "heat flux controllability". coexistence...

[RuCl2(CO)3]2/dppp is shown to be a highly effective catalyst system for the first intramolecular oxidative amination of variety aminoalkenes when it used concomitantly with K2CO3 and allyl acetate in N-methylpiperidine, give corresponding cyclic imines indoles excellent yields. For example, reaction 2,2-diphenyl-4-pentenyl-1-amine performed presence 2 mol % [RuCl2(CO)3]2, 4 dppp, K2CO3, N-methylpiperidine at 140 degrees C 8 h gives 4,4-diphenyl-2-methyl-1-pyrroline quantitative (>99%) yield.

A novel ruthenium catalyst system of [PPN][Ru3H(CO)11]/PCy3 [PPN = bis(triphenylphosphine)iminium, Cy cyclohexyl] for the direct hydroamidation and hydroesterification alkenes with formamides alkyl formates has been developed. These addition reactions proceeded smoothly under an argon atmosphere, carbon monoxide is not needed to suppress decarbonylation formyl compounds or maintain catalytic activity.
