This study investigated the function of an important reflex that helps protect upper airway from closing during negative (suction) pressure in people with and without multiple sclerosis (MS) obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). We found ∼30% MS had either no protective or abnormal response. These findings indicate impaired upper-airway may be contributor to OSA for a substantial proportion MS.
