Miconia has 1057 species and is the largest genus of woody flowering plants with a distribution restricted to tropical America. These occur from Mexico (79 spp) Argentina (10) Uruguay (1), attain highest richness in Colombia (338 spp), Peru (302), Brazil (274), Ecuador (254) Venezuela (212). Abstract Graffenrieda glandulosa can be distinguished from other species in the genus by 3-nerved leaves with barbate nerve bases on abaxial surface, calyptrate calyx, and short connective appendages covered glandular trichomes. Resumo O presente estudo apresenta o tratamento taxonômico de Siparunaceae para as formações canga da Serra dos Carajás (Pará, Brasil). Apenas uma espécie foi registrada, Siparuna ficoides, táxon ocorrente na Venezuela e norte do Brasil. Este registro representa primeiro desta estado Pará; provavelmente é terceiro indivíduo conhecido espécie, sendo material examinado diferente descritos obra original.
