To evaluate whether androgen deprivation impacts late rectal toxicity in patients with localised prostate carcinoma treated three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy. One hundred and eighty-two consecutive 3DCRT between 1995 1999 at our Institution least 12 months follow-up were analysed. radiotherapy consisted 70–76 Gy delivered a 3-field arrangement to the prostate±seminal vesicles. As part of treatment, 117 (64%) received neo-adjuvant concomitant while 88 (48.4%) continued on end as well....

After radical prostatectomy (RP) radiotherapy (RT) plays a role, both as adjuvant or salvage treatment. If negative features are present such extracapsular extension, seminal vesicle invasion, lymph and positive surgical margins, RT after RP reduces the risk of recurrence, although it is associated with an increased acute late toxicities. An intensified delivered in shortened time could improve clinical outcome be safely combined hormonal therapy (HT). The aim this study was to determine...

Abstract Background Radiation therapy after lumpectomy is a standard part of breast conserving for invasive carcinoma. The most frequently used schedule worldwide 60 Gy in 30 fractions 6 weeks, time commitment that sporadically may dissuade some otherwise eligible women from undertaking treatment. purpose and primary endpoint this perspective study to evaluate feasibility short-term late toxicity hypofractionated whole irradiation schedule. Ruthenium ophthalmic applicators are energetic beta ray sources, supplied in several shapes and dimensions, used intraocular tumor therapy. Because of their small the determination dosimetric characteristics represents a technical challenge. We developed semi‐automatic method to define surface dose, dose distribution, percentage depth such using radiochromic media. These detectors consist thin (7 μm) radiation sensitive layer on polyester base (100 μm total thickness) changing color as...

To evaluate local recurrence (LR) in women with early breast cancer (BC) who underwent intraoperative radiation therapy electrons particles (IORT-E) or adjuvant hypofractionated external radiotherapy (HYPOFX).We retrospectively analyzed 470 patients BC treated at our center from September 2009 to December 2012. 235 were breast-conserving surgery and immediate IORT-E (21 Gy/1 fraction) while wide excision followed by whole-breast irradiation. Radiotherapy modality was chosen according an...

Several studies have shown that the majority of in-breast recurrences following lumpectomy are at or near original tumor site while ipsilateral breast further a field occur rarely. This suggests radiation dose could be delivered exclusively to bed, allowing larger fractions used without increasing toxicity and shortening total treatment time.
