Knowledge about the volume of collateral flow provides insight into severity coarctation aorta and may be critical in planning operative approach. There is currently no method for quantification aorta. In this study, we applied velocity encoded cine magnetic resonance imaging (VENC-MR) to establish pattern descending thoracic normal subjects patients with coarctation, introducing a new possibility quantify by determining amount flow.VENC-MR was used measure proximal distal 10 subjects. 23...

The interstudy reproducibility of velocity-encoded cine (VEC) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging for quantification regurgitant volume (RV) and fraction (RF) was studied in 10 patients with chronic aortic regurgitation. Each patient underwent two VEC MR studies. RV RF were measured on the flow curve by quantifying antegrade retrograde per cardiac cycle. measurements correlated closely volumetric both studies (r greater than .97). Interstudy measurement high .97), variability low. These results...

Objective An elevated acute-phase response is associated with increased radiologic damage in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), but development of previously normal joints ("new joint involvement") has not been investigated. This study was undertaken to investigate the hypothesis that when there suppression disease activity as judged by C-reactive protein level, new involvement reduced a greater extent than progression already damaged ("damaged progression"). Methods Three hundred fifty-nine...

Velocity-encoded cine magnetic resonance (MR) imaging provides two-dimensional velocity maps of a cross-sectional area vessel. Pulmonary flow and patterns in the main pulmonary artery were analyzed with velocity-encoded MR Doppler echocardiography 10 patients hypertension (PH), one patient dilated artery, healthy subjects, these findings compared. METHODS--Iliac crest biopsies were obtained from 37 arthritis, 13 male 24 female, aged 37-71 years. Bone characteristics quantitatively assessed using semiautomated computerised techniques. Technetium labelled, negatively charged, unilamellar liposomes were given by intravenous injection to patients with rheumatoid arthritis and the joints scanned 20-22 hours later.
