This study compared patient dose and image quality of a mobile O-arm cone beam imaging system in the 3D scan acquisition mode to those 64 slice Computed Tomography (CT) system. The investigation included dose, scattered radiation, measurements. was measured using 0.6 cc Farmer ion chamber 30 cm long head body polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) phantoms. results show that under identical radiographic techniques (kVp, mAs, etc.) with same length, delivers approximately half radiation CT scanner....

Radiofrequency (RF) ablation is the standard of care for surgical treatment non-spinal osteoid osteoma and has greatly reduced morbidity associated with excision. Precise placement RF probe necessary to avoid incomplete ablation. Limiting radiation exposure especially advantageous in pediatric population whom frequently occurs. The aim this study was compare dosimetry clinical outcomes among patients treated using three different localization techniques.Case-control methods were used analyze...

The resistive index (RI), an ultrasonographic method of evaluating intrarenal resistance to blood flow, may be used aid in diagnosis renal failure. Values for arcuate artery RI, expressed as mean +/- two standard deviations, were obtained clinically normal female dogs sedated with atropine, acepromazine maleate, diazepam, and ketamine hydrochloride. No statistically significant differences noted between the values right kidney (0.33 0.57) versus left (0.32 0.56); however, significantly lower...

It is well known that Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) images suffer from the influence of noise. Linear filters have been applied to DSA with some success but are introduce image degradation. particularly important edge details be preserved in since outline vessels frequently contains diagnostically useful information. The non-linear median filter possesses property removing spurious noise while preserving detail an image. In work presented here difficulties applying a two dimensions...

The purpose of this work was to develop methods measure the presampled two-dimensional modulation transfer function (2D MTF) digital imaging systems. A custom x-ray "point source" phantom created by machining 256 holes with diameter 0.107 mm through a 0.5-mm-thick copper plate. imaged several times, resulting in many images individual "spots." center each spot (with respect pixel matrix) determined subpixel accuracy fitting 2D Gaussian function. locations were used create 5 x oversampled...

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and radiation dose volumetric high-resolution CT in diagnosis interstitial lung disease bronchiectasis when four contiguous sections were acquired at each three levels. potential benefits weighed against increased multiple scans.High-resolution scans obtained locations (the aortic arch, carina, 2 cm above diaphragm) 50 consecutive patients (mean age, 44 years old) with known or suspected who referred for evaluation CT. Each...

Analysis of radiation doses in interventional radiological procedures that can lead to deterministic effects such as erythema and epilation would assist physicians planning patient care after exposure reducing doses. Photographic films used measure skin the past are too sensitive for high involved procedures. Seventeen different types films, many which generally available hospitals, were surveyed see if any meet demands radiology. Sensitometric curves obtained demonstrate most inappropriate...

The educational requirements of our society are changing. It is no longer sufficient to obtain an education at a single point in time and be done; rather, must lifelong process allow people, particularly those technical diciplines, keep up with their constantly changing fields. This especially true medical education, as exemplified by the continued training radiology residents. has been difficult provide this physicians other health care practitioners who spread over wide geographical area...

Abstract Objective To determine the potential clinical usefulness of duplex Doppler estimation arcuate artery resistive index (a measure intrarenal blood flow impedance) for diagnosis aminoglycoside-induced nephrotoxicosis. Animals 30 adult, female, mixed-breed dogs, allotted to 3 groups 10 dogs each as: toxic dosage gentamicin, therapeutic and saline solution sham equivalent in volume that gentamicin. Procedure After baseline screening establish normalcy (serum biochemical analysis,...

A tumor cure rate of 60% was realized when three series combined radiation (1500 rads) and cyclophosphamide (150 mg/kg) doses were given sequentially to rats with hepatoma 3924A the time between modalities held constant at 7 days. This sequence previously shown enhance sensitivity diminish host toxicity. The first on days 0 7; second, 14 21; third, 28 35. reduced 10% second increased from 32 (first series, 39; 63 70). No cures obtained further 40 days; however, this treatment schedule...
