During a Joint European Torus pulse, the main tokamak loads [the toroidal coils, transformer plasma equilibrium and additional heating devices (not described in this work)] require total amount of energy 10000 MJ peak power excess 1000 MW.The source is U.K.'s Central Electricity Generating Boards' electric system supplemented by two identical local motor flywheel generators.Since direct-current (dc) supply, alternating-current from sources converted into dc combination thyristor bridges...

First, we summarize the four-year long efforts undertaken to build final setup of APACHE Project, a photometric transit search for small-size planets orbiting bright, low-mass M dwarfs. Next, describe present status survey, officially started in July 2012 at site Astronomical Observatory Autonomous Region Aosta Valley, Western Italian Alps. Finally, briefly discuss potentially far-reaching consequences multi-technique characterization program (potentially planet-bearing) targets.

XO-2 is the first confirmed wide stellar binary system where almost twin components XO-2N and XO-2S have planets. This stimulated a detailed characterization study of planetary based on new observations. We collected high-resolution spectra with HARPS-N spectrograph multi-band light curves. Spectral analysis led to an accurate determination atmospheric parameters activity. 14 transit curves XO-2Nb used improve parameters. Photometry provided magnitude differences between stars measure their...

We present the results of a year-long photometric monitoring campaign sample 23 nearby (d < 60 pc), bright (J 12) dM stars carried out at Astronomical Observatory Autonomous Region Aosta Valley, in western Italian Alps. This programme represents ‘;pilot study’ for long-term transit search planets around large M dwarfs, due to start with an array identical 40-cm class telescopes by Spring 2012. In this study, we set (i) demonstrate sensitivity <4 R⊕ transiting periods few days our stars,...

Two antennae have been installed in JET and operated to the maximum design capability of generators. 4.5 MW, 10 MJ coupled plasma which heated up a stored energy 3 with central temperatures Te0=5 keV Ti0=4 without increase relative impurity concentration. Degradation confinement is observed according an L mode scaling. The effect k/sub //// shaping discussed using quadrupole antenna. Hydrogen helium minority heating regimes give similar results.

ABSTRACT We present rotation period measurements for 107 M dwarfs in the mass range $0.15\!-\!0.70 \, \mathrm{M}_\odot$ observed within context of APACHE photometric survey. measure periods 0.5–190 d, with distribution peaking at ∼30 d. revise stellar masses and radii our sample rotators by exploiting Gaia DR2 data. For ${\sim}20{{\ \rm per\ cent}}$ sample, we compare those derived from different spectroscopic indicators, finding good correspondence most cases. to one obtained Kepler survey...
