In this paper, we compare the interactions between low methoxy pectin (LMP) and either Ca(2+) or Zn(2+) in semi-dilute solutions. Intrinsic viscosity turbidity measurements reveal that pectin-calcium solutions are more viscous, but yet less turbid, than pectin-zinc ones. To get a molecular understanding of origin rather unexpected behavior, further performed isothermal titration calorimetry, small angle neutron scattering experiments, as well dynamics simulations. Our results suggest calcium...
If protein structure and function changes upon adsorption are well documented, modification of adsorbed dynamics remains a blind spot, despite its importance in biological processes. The metmyoglobin on silica surface was studied by isotherm measurements, microcalorimetry, circular dichroı̈sm, UV–visible spectroscopy to determine the thermodynamic parameters consequent modifications. mean square displacement vibrational densities states were measured elastic inelastic neutron scattering...
Adsorption of betalactoglobulin on montmorillonite leads to structural changes the protein accompanied by a partial exfoliation clay.
The root system plays an essential role in the development and physiology of plant, as well its response to various stresses. However, it is often insufficiently studied, mainly because difficult visualize. For grapevine, a plant major economic interest, there growing need study system, particular assess resistance biotic abiotic stresses, understand decline that may affect it, identify new ecofriendly production systems. In this context, we have evaluated compared three distinct methods...
SBA-15 mesoporous materials were synthesized with different pore sizes (5 and 10 nm) thiol-functionalized groups then characterized to describe their ability differentially adsorb β-lactoglobulin (BLG), a globular protein an ellipsoid shape measuring 6.9 nm in length 3.6 width. All adsorption experiments showed that the capacities of for BLG dependent on duration contact between two (mesoporous material BLG) initial concentration. It was also shown thiol SBA-15-based adsorbents are important...
Tethered bilayer lipid membranes have been used as a model system to mimic the interactions between whey protein β-lactoglobulin and interface. The approach allowed for detailed study of lipid−protein interactions, results being possible importance in food cosmetic applications. For such applications, interfacial behavior are vital factors controlling manipulating process conditions emulsion stabilization gelification. Lipid composition well structural properties governed their which were...
Protein-lipid interactions play an important role in a variety of fields, for example pharmaceutical research, biosensing, or food science. However, the underlying fundamental processes that govern interplay lipids and proteins are often very complex therefore studied using model systems. Here, Langmuir monolayers were used to probe interaction protein with lipid films at air-water interface. The beta-lactoglobulin (beta lg) is major component bovine milk serum, where it coexists fat...
Small-angle neutron scattering experiments were performed on horse azidometmyoglobin (MbN3) at pressures up to 300 MPa. Other spectroscopic techniques have shown that a reorganization of the secondary structure and active site occur in this pressure range. The present measurements, using various concentrations MbN3, show compactness protein is not altered as value its radius gyration remains constant second virial coefficient solution indicates interactions between molecules are always...
A second cold neutron imaging station has been open to users at the Laboratoire Léon Brillouin. The is designed for high resolution and tomography. typical field of view 100x100 mm2 with a spatial 100 μm. Betterspatial resolutions (∼50 μm) can be achieved when reducing down 30x30mm2. L/D ratio varied from 200 to1000with pinhole sizes ranging 20 to7 mm. Future upgrades will provide capabilities energy resolved measurements using either velocity selector or double crystal monochromator....
We report on a high pressure (HP) cell designed for the determination of structure molecular solutions by small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). The HP is fitted up with two thick metallic windows that make device very resistant under hydrostatic pressures to 600 MPa (or 6 kbar). are removable, offering possibility adapt given study desired an appropriate spatial range various SANS. In this context, we absorption, transmission, and properties different windows. Finally, describe, as proof...
