Background and purpose: Antibiotic-loaded bone cement (ALBC) systemic antibiotic prophylaxis (SAP) have been used to reduce periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) rates. We investigated the use of ALBC SAP in primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA).Patients methods: This observational study is based on 2,971,357 TKAs reported 2010–2020 national/regional registries Australia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA....

The authors present a case of fracture dislocation the ankle with fibula entrapped behind tibia-Bosworth's fracture. It is often unrecognized as such because it so rare and radiographs are not correctly interpreted. A stable reduction can be obtained by closed treatment when promptly recognized.

Ankle arthrodesis has been considered the surgical Gold Standard for advanced ankle arthritis; prosthetic replacement of tibio-talar joint played a secondary role. The introduction last generation prostheses lead to better outcome and lower rate complication. PSI represents most recent innovations introduced on market arthroplasty:PSI is proposed as technique capable making arthroplasty more accurate reproducible compared standard referencing guides Aim study report early clinical...

Articular cartilage degeneration and traumatic defects are common disorders causing pain disability. Many strategies were developed throughout years to address these problems. Tissue engineering approaches offer several promising solutions. hyaline has very complex structure follows a multi-layer architecture. In this study, we 4-layers scaffold mimicking the fibers orientation observed within extra-cellular matrix (ECM). Bone microparticles incorporated in first second layers, respectively,...

High tibial osteotomies (HTO) are effective procedures to treat younger patients affected by moderate but symptomatic arthritis. Open-wedge HTO (OW-HTO) is more often performed compared a closing wedge osteotomy varus arthritis of the knee due lower incidence complications and better results: lateral hinge fracture (LHF) most common complication OW-HTO. Intra articular fractures plateau (Takeuchi type III) appear as particularly serious its extension subchondral bone compartment towards...

Hypothenar Hammer Syndrome is a relatively rare disease process caused by repetitive stress or injury to the hypothenar eminence leading chronic ulnar artery. Our study reports an unusual case.A 57 years old Plumber presented in April 2016 with history of constant pain and recurrent paresthesia involving fingers right hand for several months, over previous 1 year, his had become more intolerant exposure cold temperatures. Angio-RNM electromyography were performed showed severe double...

Objective: Hip arthroplasty (HA) is a successful surgical procedure but periarticular heterotopic ossification (HO) represents an uncommon cause of dissatisfaction. Although some  risk factors for the development HO have been identified, little known about influence fast track program on incidence after HA. Methods: we enrolled 135 patients who underwent hip by direct lateral approach; were divided into two groups with regard to introduction protocol.Aim our study was compare post...

Matrix-induced sutologous chondrocytes implantation (MACI) is a promising technique for the treatment of articular cartilage lesions, but long time outcome have to be established.
