Evidence is presented from numerical magneto-hydrodynamical simulations for the existence of magnetic activity in late-type giant stars. A red supergiant with stellar parameters similar to that Betelgeuse (α Orionis) modeled as a “star-in-a-box” high-order “Pencil Code”. Both linear kinematic and non-linear saturated dynamo action are possible: field saturates at super-equipartition value corresponding surface strengths up ~500 Gauss. In saturation regime, system yields strong magnetic fields, which undergo transitions between an energy-equipartition turbulent state. The generation evolution of such fields is relevant for understanding occurs stars other astrophysical objects.
