A convenient synthetic method for the preparation of enantiomerically pure N-acylarylsulfonamides having an asymmetric center at α-position carbonyl group is described. Chiral phenylacetic acids are first converted to corresponding acid chlorides, which in turn condensed with arylsulfonamides presence powdered alkaline hydroxide CH2Cl2, giving good optical and chemical yields. more one-pot procedure also possible.
