This paper introduced the calibration of CE‐318 sunphotometer China Aerosol Remote Sensing Network (CARSNET) and validation aerosol optical depth (AOD) by AOD module ASTPWin software compared with simultaneous measurements Robotic (AERONET)/Photométrie pour le Traitement Opérationnel de Normalization Satellitaire (PHOTONS) PREDE skyradiometer. The results show that CARSNET have same accuracy as AERONET/PHOTONS. On basis a comparison between AERONET, AODs from at 1020, 870, 670, 440 nm are...

Significance Regional haze adversely affects human health and possibly counteracts global warming by greenhouse gases, but its formation radiative forcing remain unclear. Here we present field measurements to show reduced frequency not severity for heavy little-improved moderate haze, when SO 2 is significantly in China. Our laboratory experiments identify black carbon (BC)-catalyzed sulfate involving NO NH 3 . Radiative transfer calculations accounting this BC chemistry indicate small net...

Abstract. Multi-year observations of aerosol microphysical and optical properties, obtained through ground-based remote sensing at 50 China Aerosol Remote Sensing Network (CARSNET) sites, were used to characterize the climatology for representative remote, rural, urban areas over assess effects on climate. The annual mean effective radii total particles (ReffT) decreased from north south rural high particle volumes found sites. depth 440 nm (AOD440 nm) increased sites (0.12) (0.79),...

Abstract. Tropospheric ozone is an important atmospheric oxidant, greenhouse gas and pollutant at the same time. The oxidation capacity of atmosphere, climate, human vegetation health can be impacted by increase level. Therefore, long-term determination trends baseline highly needed information for environmental climate change assessment. So far, studies on representative sites are mainly available European North American sites. Similar lacking China many other developing countries....

The first Tropospheric Ozone Assessment Report (TOAR) provides information on present-day distributions and long-term trends of ozone metrics relevant for climate change, human health, vegetation. However, only few results are available in TOAR China due to limited observations. Here, we present an integrated analysis measurements surface from eight sites distributed the North Plain (NCP) Yangtze River Delta (YRD), relatively underdeveloped region Northeast China, remote regions Northwest...

During the Campaigns of Air Quality Research in Beijing and Surrounding Region 2006, ambient O 3 , NO x SO 2 CO are observed for first time at Gucheng site southwest Beijing. This paper characterizes these pollutants, analyzes their sources, studies pollution levels. From July 2006 to September 2007 average concentrations CO, (= + ) 29.0 ± 19.4 ppb, 1.52 0.73 ppm, 17.1 12.8 28.5 13.8 47.1 8.5 respectively.
