A self-calibrating bipartite viscosity sensor 1 for cellular mitochondria, composed of coumarin and boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) with a rigid phenyl spacer mitochondria-targeting unit, was synthesized. The showed direct linear relationship between the fluorescence intensity ratio BODIPY to or lifetime media viscosity, which allowed us determine average mitochondrial in living HeLa cells as ca. 62 cP (cp). Upon treatment an ionophore, monensin, nystatin, observed increase 110 cP.

A series of heptamethine cyanine (1–3) derivatives bearing a carbamate ethyl disulfide group and gemcitabine, an anticancer drug, have been newly synthesized. Their bonds are readily cleaved by various thiols including glutathione, to result in subsequent decomposition the into amine followed release active which can be monitored fluorescence changes. In biological experiment, prodrug 1 is preferentially up-taken folate-positive KB cells over folate-negative A549 via receptor-mediated...
Two novel Cu2+sensors, bearing naphthalimide and a DPA moiety, were synthesized to study copper accumulation in organelles serve as valuable tool elucidate the subcellular location of ions.

The able to monitor delivery cellular imaging.
Thioredoxin (Trx) is a redox-active protein that plays key role in mitigating the effects of oxidative stress. The secretion Trx on plasma membrane has been suggested as distinctive feature inflammation. However, selective monitoring membrane-associated activity proved challenging because ubiquity action cells. Here, we report Trx-specific probe allows visualization associated with membranes via fluorescence microscopy. ability this to act possible screening tool for agents modulate was...
We investigated the effect of two brush parameters, thickness and dispersity in molecular weight distribution, on adhesion bacteria to pH-responsive poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) brushes synthesized using surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization. The attachment detachment Staphylococcus epidermidis PAA at pH 4 9, respectively, were examined with confocal microscopy. An optimal range thickness, 13-18 nm, was identified for minimizing bacterial 4, did not depend dispersity. Increasing...
Increased shear thinning arising due to strong attractive interactions between colloidal particles is thought obscure thickening. Here, we demonstrate how moderate attractions, induced by adding a nonadsorbing polymer, can instead enhance We measure the rheology of suspensions at constant particle volume fraction ϕ=0.40 with dilute weakly semidilute concentrations three polyacrylamide depletants different molecular weights. Suspensions containing large polymer exhibit increased thickening...
Abstract Background Many studies have been performed to identify various genomic loci and genes associated with the meat quality in pigs. However, full genetic architecture of trait still remains unclear part because lack accurate identification related structural variations (SVs) which resulted from shortage target breeds, limitations sequencing data, incompleteness genome assemblies. The recent generation a new pig breed superior quality, called Nanchukmacdon, its chromosome-level assembly...
Pig as a food source serves daily dietary demand to wide population around the world. Preference of meat depends on various factors with muscle play central role. In this regards, selective breeding abled us develop "Nanchukmacdon" pig breeds an enhanced variety and high fertility rate. To identify genomic regions under selection we performed whole-genome resequencing, transcriptome, bisulfite sequencing from Nanchukmacdon muscles samples used published data for three other such Landrace,...
Abstract Background DNA methylation is an important epigenetic modification that known to regulate gene expression. Whole-genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) a powerful method for studying cytosine in whole genome. However, it difficult obtain profiles using the WGBS raw reads and necessary be proficient all types of bioinformatic tools study methylation. In addition, recent end-to-end pipelines analyses are not sufficient addressing those difficulties. Results Here we present msPIPE,...
Abstract Advancements in next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies have led to a substantial increase the availability of population genetic variant data, thus prompting development various analysis tools enhance our understanding structure and evolution. The that are currently used analyze data generally require different environments, parameters, formats input which can act as barrier preventing wide-spread usage such by general researchers who may not be familiar with bioinformatics....
Abstract As plentiful high-quality genome assemblies have been accumulated, reference-guided assembly can be a good approach to reconstruct assembly. Here, we present chromosome-level of the Korean crossbred pig called Nanchukmacdon (the NCMD assembly) using with short and long reads. The contains 20 scaffolds total size 2.38 Gbp (N50: 138.77 Mbp). Its BUSCO score is 93.1%, which comparable reference assembly, 20,588 protein-coding genes, 8,651 non-coding 996.14 Mbp repetitive elements are...

Metagenomic assembly using high-throughput sequencing data is a powerful method to construct microbial genomes in environmental samples without cultivation. However, metagenomic assembly, especially when only short reads are available, complex and challenging task because mixed of multiple microorganisms constitute the metagenome. Although long read technologies have been developed begun be used for many studies performed based on generation requires higher cost than reads. In this study, we...
