Our aim was to identify laboratory assays in order assess the anticoagulant effects of dabigatran etexilate (DE).Twenty patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation treated on DE (110 mg per os twice daily) and 20 acenocoumarol were studied. Conventional coagulation tests, endogenous thrombin potential (ETP), thromboelastometry (ROTEM), epinephrine-induced light transmission aggregometry (LTA), Hemoclot Thrombin Inhibitors (HTI) performed all patients. In ROTEM analysis, lysis index at 60...

The cost-effectiveness of universal leucoreduction blood components remains unclear. When using leucoreduced red cells, the decrease in rate febrile non-haemolytic transfusion reactions (FNHTR) is only proven, meaningful clinical benefit, whose relationship to costs can be calculated relatively easily. aim this study was evaluate avoiding FNHTR.Data were obtained from two large tertiary hospitals Athens, Greece, over a 4-year period (2009-2012). incidence FNHTR patients transfused with or...

Extraintestinal manifestations of celiac disease (CD) are an integral part the disease's clinical profile and, frequently, appear as presenting feature. Given that anemia in CD may be multifactorial, increased awareness is needed on treating physicians, and especially hematologists, to screen for CD. In this study, we highlight feature which has remained undiagnosed several years. patients with a positive antibody testing or high suspicion CD, endoscopy biopsy small intestine performed, it...

We define the time-continuous spin coherent-state path integral in a way that is free from inconsistencies. The proposed definition used to reproduce known exact results. Such formalism opens new possibilities for applying approximations with improved accuracy and can be proven useful great variety of problems where Hamiltonians are used.
