The municipality of Rio de Janeiro is one the most affected by simultaneous circulation chikungunya (CHIKV), Zika (ZIKV) and dengue viruses (DENV) in Brazil. Although rapid tests are commercially available country, there still doubts about their efficacy flavivirus cocirculation scenarios. This this study aimed to evaluate performance best cut-off point CHIKV a scenario Janeiro. A total 2,120 volunteers who lived permanent private households were included tested for using test Dual Path...
The diagnostic of arbovirus-related obstetric complications in high-risk pregnancy and childbirth care is challenging, especially endemic areas. We conducted a prospective study to track active or recent Zika (ZIKV), dengue (DENV), chikungunya (CHIKV) virus infection among hospitalized pregnant women (PW) with hospital at the epicenter outbreak ZIKV-related microcephaly Brazil. Clinical data blood samples were collected enrollment 10 days after admission participants, between October 2018...
We present a genome polymorphisms/machine learning approach for severe COVID-19 prognosis. Ninety-six Brazilian patients and controls were genotyped 296 innate immunity loci. Our model used feature selection algorithm, namely recursive elimination coupled with support vector machine, to find the optimal loci classification subset, followed by machine linear kernel (SVM-LK) classify into group. The best features that selected SVM-RFE method included 12 SNPs in genes: PD-L1, PD-L2, IL10RA,...
BackgroundThe mannose-binding lectin (MBL) plays an important role in innate immunity. Genetically determined variations serum levels of MBL may influence the susceptibility and clinical outcome dengue infection early life.MethodsWe investigated MBL2 gene polymorphisms (total functional) children with asymptomatic (n=17) symptomatic (n=29) primary infections age-matched uninfected (n=84) enrolled a birth cohort Brazil. Polymorphisms were assessed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain...
