Abstract Mechanical properties of patellar tendon autografts used to replace the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in cynomolgus monkey were measured at four time periods up 1 year. The ACL was replaced each knee with medial half tendon: as a vascularized graft (VG) on one side and nonvascularized or free (FG) other. Postoperative care consisted 4 weeks cast immobilization 30° flexion followed by unrestricted activity large cage. Both grafts showed low stiffness maximum force 7 (24% 16%...

Objective
To study the distribution of refractive errors among adults European descent.
Design
Population-based eye in Germany with15 010 participants aged 35–74 years.
Methods
The underwent a detailed ophthalmic examination according to standardised protocol. Refractive error was determined by an automatic refraction device (Humphrey HARK 599) without cycloplegia. Definitions for analysis were myopia <−0.5 dioptres (D), hyperopia >+0.5 D, astigmatism >0.5...

This paper describes the study design, methodology, cohort profile and self-reported diseases in ophthalmological branch of Gutenberg Health Study (GHS).The GHS is an ongoing, prospective, interdisciplinary, single-center, population-based Germany. The main goals section are to assess prevalence incidence ocular explore risk factors, genetic determinants associations with systemic conditions. eye examination at baseline included a medical history, diseases, visual acuity, refractive errors,...

Background: National estimates of Kawasaki disease (KD) incidence often do not include incomplete cases (diagnosed based on only laboratory or echocardiographic criteria), and/or they rely retrospective case reports and data registries where underreporting is known to be a problem. Methods: We conducted prospective nationwide KD surveillance study in children younger than 5 years through the hospital-based German Pediatric Surveillance Unit (ESPED). accounted for applying capture–recapture...

Purpose: Clinically evaluate the noninferiority of a custom virtual reality (VR) perimetry system when compared to clinically and routinely used perimeter on both healthy subjects glaucoma patients. Methods:We use custom-designed VR tailored for visual field testing. The uses Oculus Quest headset (Facebook Technologies, LLC, Bern, Switzerland), that includes clicker participant response feedback.A prospective, single center, study was conducted at Department Ophthalmology Bern University...

Background Glaucoma is a neurodegenerative disease, leading to thinning of the retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL). The exact influence ocular, cardiovascular, morphometric, lifestyle and cognitive factors on RNFL thickness (RNFLT) unknown was analysed in subgroup Gutenberg Health Study (GHS). Methods Global peripapillary RNFLT measured 3224 eyes 1973 subjects (49% female) using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). association age, sex, Pearson correlation coefficient fitting...
