The enhanced transmission through periodic arrays of sub-wavelength holes in optically-thick metallic films has many potential applications, such as wavelength filters, light extraction from emission diodes, and subwavelength photolithography. A color filter comprising an aluminum film been fabricated. In addition to the simplicity process, enables excitation visible-range surface plasmons due its high plasma frequency. Periodic nanostructures open way for new visible filters.
ABSTRACT Recently, a production system for infectious particles of hepatitis C virus (HCV) utilizing the genotype 2a JFH1 strain has been developed. This high capacity replication in cells. Cyclosporine (CsA) suppressive effect on HCV replication. In this report, we characterize anti-HCV CsA. We observe that presence viral structural proteins does not influence activity Among strains, 1b replicons was strongly suppressed by treatment with contrast, less sensitive to CsA and its analog,...
We demonstrate high-power continuous-wave (CW) lasing oscillation of 1.3-µm wavelength InP-based photonic-crystal surface-emitting lasers (PCSELs). Single-mode operation with an output power over 100 mW, a side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR) 50 dB, and narrow single-lobe beam divergence angle below 1.2° are successfully achieved by using double-lattice photonic crystal structure consisting high-aspect-ratio deep air holes. The double lattice is designed to enhance both the in-plane optical...
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major causative agent of hepatocellular carcinoma. HCV genome replication occurs in the complex (RC) around endoplasmic reticulum membrane. However, mechanisms regulating RC remain widely unknown. Here, we used chemical biology approach to show that estrogen receptor (ESR) functionally associated with replication. We found tamoxifen suppressed Part ESRalpha resided on membranes and interacted RNA polymerase NS5B. interference-mediated knockdown endogenous reduced...
We have so far reported that an immunosuppressant cyclosporin A (CsA), a well-known cyclophilin (CyP) inhibitor (CPI), strongly suppressed hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication in cell culture, and CyPB was cellular cofactor for viral replication. To further investigate antiviral mechanisms of CPI, we here developed cells carrying CsA-resistant HCV replicons, by culturing the subgenomic replicon 4 weeks presence CsA with G418. Transfection total RNA from isolated to naïve Huh7 conferred...
The D-Wave quantum annealer has emerged as a novel computational architecture that is attracting significant interest, but there have been only few practical algorithms exploiting the power of annealers. Here we present model predictive control (MPC) algorithm using for system allowing finite number input values. Such an MPC problem classified non-deterministic polynomial-time-hard combinatorial problem, and thus real-time sequential optimization difficult to obtain with conventional...
Summary objectives To re‐evaluate the associations of HLA types with Japanese patients having hyperthyroid Graves' disease, and clinical findings were correlated. design Four independent (ophthalmopathy, family history, age at onset size goitre) two autoantibody titres, thyrotrophin binding inhibitor immunoglobulin (TBII) anti‐thyroid microsmall antibody (anti‐M), analysed. Eighty‐eight disease 186 control subjects assessed. measurement Serological typing was performed on 73 antigens In...
Swarm robot systems, which consist of many cooperating mobile robots, have attracted attention for their environmental adaptability and fault tolerance advantages. One the most important tasks such systems is coverage control, in robots autonomously deploy to approximate a given spatial distribution. In this study, we formulate control paradigm using concept optimal transport propose novel technique, termed transport-based (OTCC) method. The proposed OTCC, derived via gradient flow cost...
Strain states in wurtzite III-nitride semiconductor quantum wells (QWs) are investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) reciprocal space mapping using semipolar (112¯2) and (11¯01) InGaN/GaN QWs as test samples demonstrates that the projections of lattice vectors unstrained GaN pseudomorphically strained InGaN on interface agrees, indicating continuity layers across interface. High resolution transmission electron microscopy supports XRD analysis. Based experimental results, strain tensor elements...
Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) must take advantage of its own proteins with two or more functions to successfully replicate. Although many attempts have been made determine the function viral encoded in HIV-1 genome, role p2 peptide, a spacer between capsid and nucleocapsid Gag early-phase HIV infection still remains unclarified. In this study, we show that peptide enhances acute by increasing intracellular ATP production via activation mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase (MT-CO)...
Peaton virus (PEAV; family Peribunyaviridae, genus Orthobunyavirus) appears to be capable of producing congenital malformations in ruminants; however, its pathogenicity remains unknown given relatively low incidence. We evaluated the relationship between abnormalities calves and PEAV infection by serologic, epidemiologic, pathologic, virologic investigations using specimens from 31 malformed years 1996–2016 Japan. Antibody testing was carried out for known teratogenic viruses, including...
The N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor has been implicated in several neurodegenerative diseases, including stroke. Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1) plays pivotal roles endocytosis and signaling the cell. Immature LRP1 is processed by furin trans-Golgi network (TGN) transported to cell surface as its mature form. Activation of exerts a protective effect against glutamate-induced degeneration rat retinal ganglion cells, was shown our previous study. However,...
Abstract The spread of intelligent transportation systems in urban cities has caused heavy computational loads, requiring a novel architecture for managing large-scale traffic. In this study, we develop method globally controlling traffic signals arranged on square lattice by means quantum annealing machine, namely the D-Wave annealer. We first formulate signal optimization problem that minimizes imbalance flows two orthogonal directions. Then reformulate as an Ising Hamiltonian, which is...
The polarization-related electric field in semipolar {1122} InGaN/GaN quantum wells (QWs) is investigated. Experimentally, the direction and magnitude of are determined by bias-dependent photoluminescence. Using both (1122) reverse QWs enables direction, which indicates that polarization flips between polar (0001) plane plane, to be reliably determined. Lattice distortion due lattice mismatch, origin effect, theoretically assessed valence force model, analysis supports experimental result.
Sigma C protein-coding sequences have been used to phylogenetically classify avian reovirus (ARV) strains. However, the relationship between serotype and phylogenetic cluster classification of five prototype strains ARV in Japan has not established. Thus, we sigma characterize reoviruses (ARVs) isolated from chickens with tendonitis together Japan. Phylogenetic analysis ARVs based on revealed that were each classified into different, independent clusters. Two field isolates (JP/Tottori/2016...
