Abstract One of the major reasons for wide epidemicity tuberculosis and necessity extensive chemotherapeutic regimens is that causative agent, Mycobacterium , has an ability to become dormant. Therefore, new lead compounds are anti‐bacterial against M. in both active dormant states urgently needed. Marine sponge diterpene alkaloids, agelasines B, C, D, from Indonesian marine genus Agelas were rediscovered as anti‐dormant‐mycobacterial substances. Based on concept transformants...

The potent antimycobacterial activity of (±)-platencin is reported. Complete inhibition Mycobacterium smegmatis growth was observed at MICs 0.5 μg mL−1 and 0.3 under aerobic hypoxic conditions, respectively. Notably, the compound exhibited bacteriostatic activities towards tuberculosis H37Rv (MIC = 2 mL−1), multi-drug-resistant M. 1 extensively drug-resistant mL−1). An overexpression study transformants revealed that platencin selectively targeted Mt-KasB modestly inhibited Mt-KasA Mt-FabH.
