Background: In some subjects, specific foods trigger anaphylaxis when exercise follows ingestion (specific food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis, FDEIAn). Skin test and/or RAST positivity to suggest an IgE-mediated pathogenic mechanism. Others suffer from after all meals followed by exercise, regardless of the food eaten (nonspecific We sought identify culprit with a diagnostic protocol. Methods: collected detailed histories and performed skin...

Summary Background The food challenge test (FCT) is the gold standard for diagnosis of allergy. This procedure time consuming, costly and can induce potentially severe symptoms. An ideal in vitro should allow to avoid FCT. Objective To assess clinical performance microarray specific IgE (sIgE) detection children with challenge‐proven/excluded cow's milk (CM) or hen's egg (HE) Methods One‐hundred four suspected IgE‐mediated hypersensitivity CM HE were studied. In all patients, skin prick...

Background : Peanut allergy is one of the five most frequent food allergies in children and adults. Recently, we purified evaluated allergenicity peanut oleosins, a family small‐sized proteins involved formation oil bodies. Methods: Allergenicity native protein recombinant was tested by Western blot IgE‐RIA. Results: We found IgE‐binding with oleosin 3 14 sera patients who had suffered an allergic reaction to peanuts. Two reacted weakly against 16–18 kDa corresponding monomers, blot. The...

Vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) is a chronic inflammatory eye condition predominantly affecting children. Despite its varied clinical manifestations, VKC poses challenges in diagnosis and management because of multifactorial nature, potentially involving allergic sensitization comorbidities. The purpose this study was to comprehensively assess VKC, focusing on the possible effect form, severity, quality life pediatric patients with VKC. In retrospective study, encompassing 248 children...

The frequency and severity of reactions in food-allergic consumers exposed to unintentional food allergen contamination during production is unknown. To warn allergic consumers, it has been suggested for pre-packaged foods be precautionary labelled when the may exceed amount which 1%-5% population could react (ED01-ED05). A patient with maculopapular reactions to iopamidol needed undergo angiography for a cerebral arteriovenous malformation. In vivo and in vitro tests were performed ionic nonionic contrast media, including iobitridol. All results positive, demonstrating delayed hypersensitivity. The received 6-alpha-methylprednisolone cyclosporine 1 week before 2 weeks after four angiograms obtained the use of iobitridol, which was well tolerated.

Abstract Background In Europe, Omalizumab (anti‐IgE) is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe asthma, but not IgE‐mediated food allergy (FA). Objective We assessed impact on efficacy, safety, and quality life (FA‐QoL) in patients with asthma who have a history anaphylaxis peanut, tree nuts, fish, egg, milk, and/or wheat. Methods Food‐allergic children (6–18 years) underwent oral challenges (OFCs) establish threshold reaction culprit food(s) at baseline (T0) 4‐month intervals (T1,...

Abstract Background Vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) is a bilateral, chronic, allergic condition mostly affecting children. Clinical evaluations may not necessarily reflect the impact of disease on patients’ health‐related quality life (HRQoL). We aimed to evaluate HRQoL in children at VKC diagnosis and analyze correlations between clinical laboratory variables. Methods studied 5‐ 12‐year‐old patients with VKC. Data history, instrumental eye evaluations, blood examinations, visual analog...

Background: Adverse reactions to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are frequent, particularly among patients with chronic urticaria or asthma. The identification of an alternative safe and reliable drug is a common problem in clinical practice. Objective: To assess the tolerability rofecoxib, new NSAID that selectively inhibits inducible isoform cyclooxygenase, large group NSAID-sensitive patients. Methods: We studied 216...

The supply chains of food raw materials have recently been heavily influenced by geopolitical events. Products that came from, or transited through, areas currently in conflict are now preferentially supplied from alternative areas. These changes may entail risks for safety.

At age 4 years began suffer recurrent pancreatitis. When he came our attention for evaluation his fish allergy, asymptomatic; weak reactivity observed (SPTs: cod, mm, sIgE ImmunoCAP: 1.30kU/l).
