A second-generation synthesis of three structurally related chlorosulfolipids has been developed. Key advances include highly stereocontrolled additions to α,β-dichloroaldehydes, kinetic resolutions complex chlorinated vinyl epoxide intermediates, and Z-selective alkene cross metatheses cis-vinyl epoxides. This strategy facilitated the enantioenriched danicalipin A, mytilipin malhamensilipin in nine, eight, 11 steps, respectively.

Magnificent seven: The chlorosulfolipid mytilipin A was synthesized in racemic form seven steps and enantioenriched eight steps. Key transformations include a highly diastereoselective bromoallylation of sensitive α,β-dichloroaldehyde, kinetic resolution vinyl epoxide, convergent Z-selective alkene cross-metathesis, chemoselective dichlorination complex diene.

A series of fluorescent silyl-fluorene molecules were synthesized and studied with respect to their photophysical properties response toward ionizing neutron gamma-ray radiation. Optically transparent stable organic glasses prepared from these materials using a bulk melt-casting procedure. The glass monoliths provided fluorescence quantum yields radiation detection exceeding the highest-performing benchmark such as solution-grown trans-stilbene crystals. Co-melts based on blends two...

In this paper, we describe our synthesis of four key building blocks for the total psymberin (1) and its C4 epimer (2). Despite early difficulties in processing material to advanced intermediate stage, have been successful developing high-yielding syntheses pyran core, natural side chain, 4-epi aryl fragments molecule. Our findings from optimization process are presented herein.

Chain end functional polymers were prepared via reversible addition–fragmentation transfer (RAFT) polymerization techniques that further chain extended with acrylonitrile. Under reducing conditions, latent cysteine-like residues exposed at the ends. A variety of reduction conditions explored and base then tethered together thiazolidine chemistry.

In the last 20 years, biodiesel consumption in United States has rapidly increased to ∼2 billion gallons per year as a renewable supplement fossil fuel. However, further expansion of use is currently limited part by poor cold weather performance, which prevents year-round blending and necessitates blend walls ≤5% v/v. order provide diesel fuel blendstock with improved performance (cloud point, pour filter plug point), while at same time maintaining other required specifications, several...

An organic glass scintillator developed by Sandia National Laboratories was characterized in terms of its light output and pulse shape discrimination (PSD) properties compared to commercial liquid (EJ-309) plastic (EJ-276) scintillators. The electron determined through relative comparison the $^{137}$Cs Compton edge location. proton yield measured using a double time-of-flight technique at 88-Inch Cyclotron Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. High-performance radiation detection materials are an integral part of national security, medical imaging, and nuclear physics applications. Those that offer compositional manufacturing versatility particular interest. Here, we report a new family radiological particle-discriminating scintillators containing bis(9,9-dimethyl-9H-fluoren-2-yl)diphe-nylsilane (compound "P2") in situ polymerized vinyltoluene (PVT) is phase stable mechanically robust at any blend ratio. Combustion of liquid fossil fuels for transportation is a major source carbon emissions only partially offset by the incumbent renewable alternatives─biodiesel, diesel, and ethanol. New ground derived from abundant sources biomass, utilizing carbon-efficient bioprocessing, are needed to further fuel use. Low intensity especially required medium- heavy-duty engine architectures supporting long-range fleet. Realization substantial efficiency gains in production can be achieved extending...
