In this paper, we present a novel approach for functional network connectivity in fMRI resting activity using distance correlation. The proposed method accounts nonlinear relationships between the state networks and can be used both single subject group level analyses. We showed that new strategy improves capacity of characterization pathological populations, such as, patients with disorder consciousness, when compared to related approaches.

Abstract Background Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is an early stage of memory loss or decline and progresses to Alzheimer’s disease at a rate about 15% per year. It important study the effects MCI on brain. Here we present novel along‐tract analysis microstructural brain metrics computed from diffusion MRI. We extract, map, visualize profile abnormalities 3D models fiber tracts, yielding fine‐scale maps MCI. Methods analyzed multi‐shell diffusion‐weighted MRI data with 127 volumes 131...

Investigations about the intrinsic brain organization in resting-state are critical for understanding of healthy, pathological and pharmacological cerebral states. Recent studies on fMRI suggest that resting state activity is organized large scale networks coordinated activity, so called, Resting State Networks (RSNs). The assessment interactions among these functional plays an important role different pathologies. Current methods to quantify commonly assume underlying coordination...

Abstract Medical imaging has become a fascinating field with detailed visualizations of the body’s internal environments. Although grown fast and is sensitive to new technologies, it does not use latest rendering techniques available in other domains, such as day-to-day movie production or game development. In this work, we bring forward Horizon, engine that provides cinematic capabilities real-time for quality controlling medical data. addition, Horizon provided free, open-source software...

Clustering is a fundamental problem in machine learning where distance-based approaches have dominated the field for many decades. This set of problems often tackled by partitioning data into K clusters number chosen apriori. While significant progress has been made on these lines over years, it well established that as or dimensions increase, current dwell local minima resulting suboptimal solutions. In this work, we propose new distance threshold methods called Theta-based Algorithms...

Functional magnetic resonance imaging in resting state (fMRI-RS) constitutes an informative protocol to investigate several pathological and pharmacological conditions.A common approach study this data source is through the analysis of changes so called networks (RSNs).These correspond well-defined functional entities that have been associated different low high brain order functions.RSNs may be characterized by using Independent Component Analysis (ICA).ICA provides a decomposition fMRI-RS...

Recent evidence suggests that healthy brain is organized on large-scale in regions spatially distant and partially temporally synchronized. These commonly are called Resting State Networks (RSNs). Many RSNs has been identified multiples spatial scales subjects their interactions used to define the functional network connectivity (FNC). The main idea FNC dynamic shown among control subjects, can change pathological pharmacological conditions. However, this hypothesis assumes structure of...

We propose a dimensionality reduction method, based on the bundle-based minimum distance metric and UMAP technique, to disentangle visualize clusters in whole-brain tractography. In multishell diffusion MRI data from 141 elderly subjects, 30 tracts were extracted per subject using auto-calibrated RecoBundles DIPY. A (141x30)x(141x30) bundle matrix was calculated fed into UMAP. Embedding space maps showed that same bundles consistently mapped across making it easier identify outliers define...

Abstract The anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) is functionally closely related with the insula and ventral lateral prefrontal (vlPFC). Extensive work on their functional relationships has led to salience network theory advanced understanding of value-based learning decision making. However, anatomical connections between ACC two regions remain unknown in human brain. Despite ground truth established by nonhuman primate (NHP) tract-tracing, diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) not seen...
