Nosocomial infections caused by multidrug-resistant and carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas putida isolates have been reported occasionally in severely ill or immunocompromised patients. Here we report the microbiological characteristics of what are believed to be two first VIM metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL)-producing P. strains Spain, which were isolated from patients at University Hospital Complex Santiago de Compostela. Both with severe underlying diseases had hospitalized for more than 15...

A One Health approach requires integrative research to elucidate antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the environment and risks it poses human health. Research on this topic involves experts from diverse backgrounds professions. Shortcomings exist terms of consistent, complete, transparent reporting many environmental studies. Standardized will improve quality scientific papers, enable meta-analyses enhance communication among different experts. In study, we aimed generate a consensus standards...

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the most common infectious diseases in both communities and hospitals. With non-anatomical or functional abnormalities, UTIs usually self-limiting, though women suffer more reinfections throughout their lives. Certainly, antibiotic treatment leads to a rapid resolution of symptoms, but also it selects resistant uropathogens adversely affects gut vaginal microbiota. As increasingly becoming currently available antibiotics, could be time explore alternative...

Infections with carbapenem-resistant enterobacteria are an emerging threat. This study reports the microbiologic, clinical, and epidemiologic features therapeutic outcomes of infections caused by carbapenem- pandrug-resistant Klebsiella emerged in our hospital. Fingerprinting analyses automated repetitive extragenic palindromic-polymerase chain reaction (rep-PCR) matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry also compared.Carbapenem-resistant spp....

Rapid diagnosis is one of the best ways to improve patient management and prognosis as well combat development bacterial resistance. The aim this study was parameters that impact achievement reliable identification using a combination flow cytometry matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-ToF-MS).The carried out in nine hospitals Spain included 1,050 urine samples with counts 5x106 bacteria/ml. MALDI-ToF-MS-based performed according previously...

Accumulation of purified adenylylated dihydrostreptomycin (DHS-AMP) was examined in two strains Escherichia coli. E. coli JSRO-N plasmid free and aminoglycoside (AG) susceptible; JSRO-N(pSAD1) contained a plasmid-encoded AG adenylyltransferase which modifies DHS streptomycin confers resistance to both these drugs. Although whole cells spheroplasts accumulated DHS, we were not able demonstrate uptake DHS-AMP by this strain. Whole at much slower rate than that observed JSRO-N. This presumably...
