To determine whether marital status independently predicts survival in a head and neck cancer (HNC) survivor population. In this retrospective cohort study, we analysed data from 460 adult patients (59.31 ± 11.42) years diagnosed with HNC at an academic tertiary referral centre between 1997 2012. Cox proportional hazards model estimated the effect of on survival. Our study had 73% men, 82.2% were Whites. We found association survival. Unmarried 66% increase hazard death compared to married...

ABSTRACT Background To increase early detection of head and neck cancers, it is important that disparities associated with access to care are addressed. Methods A total 351 patients aged 20 91 years (58.72 ± 11.70 years) diagnosed cancers at a university hospital from 1997 2010 were analyzed. Logistic regression assessed the association between clinical stage presentation predictors. Cox proportional hazards model effect on survival. Results Being African American was increased odds late...

Stereochemically-pure 2'-O-(2-methoxyethyl)-phosphorothioate (PS-MOE) oligonucleotides were synthesized from new chiral oxazaphospholidine-containing nucleosides. Thermal stability studies showed that the incorporation of Rp-PS linkages increased RNA-binding affinity. In cells, a full Rp-PS-MOE splice-switching oligonucleotide targeting part ferrochelatase gene was more potent than its Sp-PS counterpart, but similar potency to stereorandom PS-parent sequence.
