Summary Phthalate esters, commonly used as plasticizers, show anti‐androgenic activity and cause male reproductive malformation in experimental animals. However, the effects of prenatal exposure to phthalate esters humans have not been extensively studied. The purpose this study was examine relationship between anogenital distance (AGD) a endpoint human newborns. Spot urine samples were collected from 111 Japanese pregnant women after obtaining their informed consent. Seven urinary ester...
We evaluated the effect of environmental, low-level exposure to heavy metals during pregnancy, as estimated by urine analysis, on birth size newborns. Spot samples were collected from unexposed 78 pregnant women in Tokyo 2007 and 2008. The urinary concentrations beryllium (Be), copper (Cu), arsenic (As), zinc (Zn), selenium (Se), molybdenum (Mo), cadmium (Cd), tin (Sn), antimony (Sb), lead (Pb) measured ICP-MS. birthweight (BW), length (BL) head circumference (HC) newborns delivered subjects...
The carcinogenic activity of bisphenol A (BPA) is responsible for stimulating growth in estrogen-dependent breast cancer tissues, cell lines and rodent studies. However, it not fully understood how this compound promotes mammary carcinogenesis. In our study, we examined the effect BPA on cellular proliferation senescence human epithelial cells (HMEC). Exposure to 1 week at early stage passage 8 increased sphere size HMEC later up 16, suggesting that has capability modulate cells....
The aim of this study was to assess the performance a method analyzing organic esters plasticizer in indoor air by sampling charcoal tube and extracting toluene using gas chromatography−mass spectrometer (GC−MS) flame photometric detector (FPD). An internal standardization used for GC−MS measurement phthalate esters, whereas an external calibration employed determine levels phosphate FPD. instrumental detection limit, lower limit determination, blank limits were also determined. Mean...
Our objectives were (1) to evaluate whether single spot urine is suitable media for longer-term phthalate esters exposure assessment, and (2) estimate intake level of Japanese pregnant women using urinary metabolites as an indicator prenatal in their offspring. We analyzed nine (MMP, MEP, MnBP, MBzP, MEHP, MEOHP, MEHHP, MINP, MnOP) seven samples from 50 by high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). Using four collected each 12 subjects within 5-12 weeks, we...
ABSTRACT Rationale Carbon and nitrogen stable isotope ratios (δ 13 C δ 15 N) of whole diet have rarely been measured to date though the in human sample extensively used for nutritional researches. In order fully validate dietary analysis, isotopic information is required. Methods N 150 duplicate samples collected Japan during 2016–2017 were measured. Sixty‐five males 85 females (mean age: 45 years) donated which by element analyzer‐isotope ratio mass spectrometry. Results Mean diets −24.3...
