A guidewire is a medical device inserted into vessels during image guided interventions for balloon inflation. During interventions, the undergoes non-rigid deformation due to patients' breathing and cardiac motions, such 3D motions are complicated when being projected onto 2D fluoroscopy. Furthermore, in fluoroscopy there exist severe artifacts other wire-like structures. All these make robust tracking challenging. To address challenges, this paper presents probabilistic framework tracking....

Early detection of overtaking vehicles is an important task for vision-based driver assistance systems. Techniques utilizing image motion are likely to suffer from spurious structures caused by shadows and illumination changes, let alone the aperture problem. To achieve reliable vehicles, authors have developed a robust method, which integrates dynamic scene modeling, hypothesis testing, information fusion. A fusion algorithm, based on variable bandwidth density multiscale mean shift,...

Abstract In some applications of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy there may be substantial variability between the spectra from replicate measurements what is nominally same sample. A method called error reduction by orthogonal subtraction (EROS) proposed to ameliorate effects this. The first step use principal component analysis (PCA) identify structure in measurements. This followed modelled original spectral data matrix X projection onto subspace factors derived PCA. An application...

Computation complexity is an important issue for current face detection systems. This paper proposes a subspace approach to capture local discriminative features in the space-frequency domain fast detection. Based on orthonormal wavelet packet analysis, we develop discriminant algorithm search "minimum cost" of high-dimensional signal space, which leads set with maximum class discrimination and dimensionality reduction. Detailed (high frequency) information within facial areas shows...
