We present a measurement of the branching fractions for decay from long-lived $5{D}_{5/2}$ level in ${^{138}\mathrm{Ba}}^{+}$. The fraction into $6{S}_{1/2}$ ground state was found to be $0.846{(25)}_{\mathrm{stat}}{(4)}_{\mathrm{sys}}$. also report an improved lifetime, ${\ensuremath{\tau}}_{5{D}_{5/2}}=31.2(0.9)$ s. Together these measurements provide experimental determination transition rates out level. low ($<7\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}12}$ Torr) pressure ion...

The neutron decay of an unbound resonance in $^{12}\mathrm{Be}$ has been measured at $1243\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}21$ keV energy with a width $634\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}60$ keV. This state was populated one-proton removal reaction from 71 MeV/u $^{13}\mathrm{B}$ beam incident upon beryllium target. invariant mass reconstruction the achieved by measuring daughter fragment coincidence neutrons. Despite being above $2n$ separation energy, decays predominantly emission one to...

The NA35 experiment has collected a high statistics set of momentum analyzed negative hadrons near and forward midrapidity for central collisions $200A\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{GeV}/c$ $^{32}S+\mathrm{S}$, Cu, Ag, Au. Using space correlations to study the size source particle production, transverse radii are found decrease by $\ensuremath{\sim}$40% at $\ensuremath{\sim}$20% rapidity while longitudinal radius ${R}_{L}$ is $\ensuremath{\sim}$50% as ${p}_{T}$ increases over interval...

The neutron-unbound nucleus 13Be was populated with a nucleon-exchange reaction from 71 MeV/u secondary 13B beam. decay energy spectrum reconstructed using invariant mass spectroscopy based on 12Be fragments in coincidence neutrons. data could be described an s-wave resonance at E = 0.73(9) MeV width of Gamma 1.98(34) and d-wave 2.56(13) 2.29(73) MeV. observed spectral shape is consistent previous one-proton removal measurements 14B.

We report an improved measurement of the Land\'e ${g}_{J}$ factor $5{D}_{5/2}$ state singly ionized barium. Measurements were performed on single Doppler-cooled ${}^{138}$Ba${}^{+}$ ions in linear Paul traps using two similar, independent apparatuses. Transitions between Zeeman sublevels $6{S}_{1/2}$ and states driven with independent, stabilized radio-frequency synthesizers a dedicated electrode within each ion trap chamber. State detection manifold was achieved frequency-stabilized fiber...

The electric dipole-forbidden, quadrupole $6{S}_{1/2}\ensuremath{\leftrightarrow}5{D}_{3/2}$ transition in Ba${}^{+}$ near 2051 nm, with a natural linewidth of 13 mHz, is attractive for potential observation parity nonconservation, and also as clock barium ion optical frequency standard. This offers direct means populating the metastable $5{D}_{3/2}$ state to measure nuclear magnetic octupole moment odd isotopes. Light from diode-pumped, solid-state Tm,Ho:YLF laser operating at nm used...

We propose a method for measuring the magnetic dipole ($M1$) transition moment of $6{S}_{1/2}(m=\ensuremath{-}1/2)\ensuremath{\leftrightarrow}5{D}_{3/2}(m=\ensuremath{-}1/2)$ in single trapped Ba${}^{+}$ by exploiting different symmetries electric quadrupole ($E2$) and $M1$ couplings between states. The technique is adapted from previously proposed atomic parity nonconservation ion [N. Fortson, Phys. Rev. Lett. 70, 2383 (1993)]. Knowledge crucial any measurement Ba${}^{+}$, as laser coupling...

Motivation: Visualizing the movement of laryngeal muscles during voicing and breathing is important for understanding mechanics speech production. Goal(s): The goal to improve our production by visualizing gross-vocal fold movements due muscle contractions. Approach: We proposed a multi-slice non-gated spiral sparse sampling strategy, variational manifold based reconstruction scheme dynamic MR imaging at high spatio-temporal resolution. Results: Our method can capture gross vocal motions...

We report the results from our first-generation experiment to measure magnetic-dipole transition moment (M1) between $6S_{1/2}$ and $5D_{3/2}$ manifolds in Ba$^{+}$. Knowledge of M1 is crucial for proposed parity-nonconservation ion \cite{Fortson93}, where will be a leading source systematic error. To date, no measurement has been made Ba$^{+}$, moreover, sensitivity electron-electron correlations confounded accurate theoretical predictions. A precise may help resolve discrepancies while...
