The transverse momentum and rapidity distributions of negative hadrons participant protons have been measured for central 32S+ 32S collisions at plab=200 GeV/c per nucleon. proton mean shift 〈Δy〉∼1.6 〈pT〉∼0.6 are much higher than in pp or peripheral AA indicate an increase the nuclear stopping power. All pT spectra exhibit similar source temperatures. Including previous results K0s Λ, Λ¯, we account all important contributions to particle production.Received 17 June...
E896 has measured Lambda production in 11.6A GeV/c Au-Au collisions over virtually the whole rapidity phase space. The midrapidity p(t) distributions have been for first time at this energy and appear to indicate that hyperons different freeze-out conditions than protons. A comparison with relativistic quantum molecular dynamics model shows while there is good shape agreement high predicts significantly slopes of m(t) spectra midrapidity. data, where overlap occurs, are consistent previously...
The NA35 experiment has collected a high statistics set of momentum analyzed negative hadrons near and forward midrapidity for central collisions $200A\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{GeV}/c$ $^{32}S+\mathrm{S}$, Cu, Ag, Au. Using space correlations to study the size source particle production, transverse radii are found decrease by $\ensuremath{\sim}$40% at $\ensuremath{\sim}$20% rapidity while longitudinal radius ${R}_{L}$ is $\ensuremath{\sim}$50% as ${p}_{T}$ increases over interval...
The Heavy Flavor Tracker (HFT) was installed in the STAR experiment for 2014 heavy ion run of RHIC. Designed to improve vertex resolution and extend measurement capabilities flavor domain, HFT is composed three different silicon detectors based on CMOS monolithic active pixels (MAPS), pads strips respectively, arranged four concentric cylinders close interaction point.
We have measured the production of light nuclei (A<~3) in 11.6GeV/c Au-Au collisions at Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS). The transverse mass spectra are analyzed using a thermal fireball model, and yields for different particle species discussed assuming coalescence fragmentation as possible mechanisms. wide acceptance range 3He measurements permits broad study parameter B3 functions momentum rapidity. Comparisons with data obtained previously AGS energies suggest that...
E896 was designed to search for the predicted short-lived six-quark H0 di-baryon. The goal is enhance existing knowledge by extending into regions of shorter lifetimes (approximately half that lambda) and via exploring a new creation channel, coalescence two lambdas. Two main tracking chambers are used, distributed drift chamber positioned measure low-pt high-rapidity neutral particle decay products silicon detector array which measures production at mid-rapidity. Both detectors also...
The ALICE Collaboration is preparing a major upgrade to the experimental apparatus. A key element of construction new silicon-based Inner Tracking System containing 12 Gpixels in an area 10 m2. Its readout system consists 192 units that control pixel sensors and power units, deliver sensor data counting room. prototype board has been designed test: interface between modules electronics, signal integrity reliability transfer, DAQ trigger, susceptibility expected radiation level.
During the LHC Long Shutdown in 2019/20, ALICE collaboration will upgrade various detector sub-systems including Inner Tracking System (ITS) based on Monolithic Active Pixel Sensor (MAPS) technology. The part of upgraded ITS readout system installed experimental hall consists 192 custom FPGA-based units that control and monitor sensors their power supply modules, receive trigger information, deliver sensor data to counting room. In this article, we describe requirements, concept, developed...
A system test of various components the Solenoidal Tracker at RHIC (STAR) detector, operating in concert, has recently come on-line. Communication between a major sub-detector, sector time projection chamber (TPC), and trigger, data acquisition slow controls systems been established, enabling from cosmic ray muons to be collected. First results an analysis TPC are presented. These include measurements noise, electronic parameters such as amplifier gains pedestal values, tracking resolution...
Various types of thin-film dc gradiometer SQUIDs with integrated pickup loops were investigated. The prepared on a chip in the well developed technology. It was shown that work an unshielded environment. Our best have field gradient sensitivity better then . All gradiometers some response to homogeneous field, i.e. parasitic area. effective area, sensitivity, and components area for perpendicular parallel plane measured all gradiometer. calculations flux coupling efficiency are compared...
Polarimeters for medium-energy neutrons are described which based on the fact that scattering of polarized from unpolarized hydrogen nuclei exhibits a left-right (or an up-down) asymmetry. Configurations neutron polarimeters use analyzing power neutron-proton in organic scintillator material. The angle theta azimuthal (out-of-plane) phi event determined position interaction each two detectors involved given event. Consideration is to V-configuration polarimeters, and axial-configuration...
