Measurements of the jet energy calibration and transverse momentum resolution in CMS are presented, performed with a data sample collected proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass 7TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity 36pb−1. The balance dijet γ/Z+jets events is used measure response detector, as well resolution. results presented for three different methods reconstruct jets: calorimeter-based approach, ``Jet-Plus-Track'' which improves measurement calorimeter jets by exploiting...
First measurements of the Collins and Sivers asymmetries charged hadrons produced in deep-inelastic scattering muons on a transversely polarized 6-LiD target are presented. The data were taken 2002 with COMPASS spectrometer using muon beam CERN SPS at 160 GeV/c. asymmetry turns out to be compatible zero, as does measured within present statistical errors.
A bstract We present the calibration strategy for 20 kton liquid scintillator central detector of Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO). By utilizing a comprehensive multiple-source and multiple-positional program, in combination with novel dual calorimetry technique exploiting two independent photosensors readout systems, we demonstrate that JUNO can achieve better than 1% energy linearity 3% effective resolution, required by neutrino mass ordering determination.
Using reverse kinematics, we have studied the breakup of $1.0A$ GeV gold nuclei incident on a carbon target. The detector system permitted exclusive event reconstruction nearly all charged reaction products. moments resulting fragment distribution provide strong evidence that nuclear matter possesses critical point observable in finite nuclei. We determined values for exponents $\ensuremath{\gamma}$, $\ensuremath{\beta}$, and $\ensuremath{\tau}$. These are close to those liquid-gas systems...
An exclusive study of the interaction 1A GeV Au with C shows a separability into two stages: prompt stage involving emission most $Z\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1$ and some $Z\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}2$ particles second decay an equilibrated remnant, which typically undergoes multifragmentation. The mean mass, charge, excitation energy, initial temperature ${T}_{i}$ remnant have been determined as function total charge multiplicity, $m$, has...
We present a determination of the gluon polarization Delta G/G in nucleon, based on helicity asymmetry quasi-real photoproduction events, Q^2<1(GeV/c)^2, with pair large transverse-momentum hadrons final state. The data were obtained by COMPASS experiment at CERN using 160 GeV polarized muon beam scattered 6-LiD target. for selected events is = 0.002 +- 0.019(stat.) 0.003(syst.). From this value, we obtain leading-order QCD analysis G/G=0.024 0.089(stat.) 0.057(syst.) x_g 0.095 and mu^2...
A search for new physics is presented based on an event signature of at least three jets accompanied by large missing transverse momentum, using a data sample corresponding to integrated luminosity 36 inverse picobarns collected in proton--proton collisions sqrt(s)=7 TeV with the CMS detector LHC. No excess events observed above expected standard model backgrounds, which are all estimated from data. Exclusion limits constrained minimal supersymmetric extension model. Cross section also...
The Taishan Antineutrino Observatory (TAO, also known as JUNO-TAO) is a satellite experiment of the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino (JUNO). A ton-level liquid scintillator detector will be placed at about 30 m from core Nuclear Power Plant. reactor antineutrino spectrum measured with sub-percent energy resolution, to provide reference for future neutrino experiments, and benchmark measurement test nuclear databases. spherical acrylic vessel containing 2.8 ton gadolinium-doped viewed by 10 m^2...
Abstract The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector. Some of JUNO's make it an excellent location for B solar neutrino measurements, such low-energy threshold, high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors, and much larger target mass previous detectors. In this paper, we present comprehensive assessment potential detecting neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic...
Exclusive measurements have been made of Au $+$Au reactions with beam energies ranging from 0.25 $A$ to 1.15 GeV. We present directed collective flow averaged over all light fragments masses up alphas, as well separate for protons, deuterons, tritons, ${}^{3}$He, ${}^{4}$He, and Li. The results show a strong increase the fragment mass at measured. Experimental are compared quantum molecular dynamics model. find that neither ``soft'' nor ``hard'' equation state can describe data entire range energies.
The semi-inclusive difference asymmetry A^{h^{+}-h^{-}} for hadrons of opposite charge has been measured by the COMPASS experiment at CERN. data were collected in years 2002-2004 using a 160 GeV polarised muon beam scattered off large ^6LiD target and cover range 0.006 < x 0.7 1 Q^2 100 (GeV/c)^2. In leading order QCD (LO) A_d^{h^{+}-h^{-}} measures valence quark polarisation provides an evaluation first moment Delta u_v + d_v which is found to be equal 0.40 +- 0.07 (stat.) 0.05 (syst.)...
Multifragmentation MF results from 1AGeV Au on C have been compared with the Copenhagen statistical multifragmentation model (SMM). The complete charge, mass, and momentum reconstruction of projectile was used to identify high ejectiles leaving an excited remnant mass A, charge Z, excitation energy E* which subsequently multifragments. Measurement magnitude multiplicity (energy) dependence initial free volume breakup determines variable parametrization SMM. Very good agreement is obtained...
A systematic study of energy spectra for light particles emitted at midrapidity from Au+Au collisions E= (0.25–1.15) GeV reveals a significant nonthermal component consistent with collective radial flow. This is evaluated as function bombarding and event centrality. Comparisons to quantum molecular dynamics Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck models are made different equations state.Received 15 August 1994DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.75.2662©1995 American Physical Society
We present a precise measurement of the deuteron longitudinal spin asymmetry A1d and spin-dependent structure function g1d at Q2<1(GeV/c)2 4×10−5<x<2.5×10−2 based on data collected by COMPASS experiment CERN during years 2002 2003. The statistical precision is tenfold better than that previous in this region. measured are found to be consistent with zero whole range x.
A high-statistics exclusive study of the multifragmentation 1A GeV gold on carbon has been performed. Particles with Z<~2 show evidence emission in a first prompt stage as well second equilibrium whereas fragments Z>~3 appear to be emitted essentially only stage. Two methods for separation particles into two stages are given and they agreement. The yields each determined function event charged particle multiplicity m. mass, nuclear charge, excitation energy per nucleon, temperature remnant...
E896 has measured Lambda production in 11.6A GeV/c Au-Au collisions over virtually the whole rapidity phase space. The midrapidity p(t) distributions have been for first time at this energy and appear to indicate that hyperons different freeze-out conditions than protons. A comparison with relativistic quantum molecular dynamics model shows while there is good shape agreement high predicts significantly slopes of m(t) spectra midrapidity. data, where overlap occurs, are consistent previously...
