The tensor polarization t20 of the recoil deuteron in elastic e-d scattering has been measured for three values four-momentum transfer, q=3.78, 4.22, and 4.62 fm−1. data have used to locate first node charge monopole form factor at q=4.39±0.16 results are reasonable agreement with expectations based on nucleon-meson description nuclear dynamics.Received 28 May 1991DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.67.173©1991 American Physical Society
A method has been developed for measuring the acoustic power output in watts and frequency spectra of ventilating fans operating into ducts. Both inlet exhaust noise are determined as a function back-pressure. The fan is ideally connected to circular section duct about equal diameter five ten diameters length. Three six from input end this an air straightener located. measurements made with condenser microphone enclosed wind screen located four eight inlet. outlet couples through exponential...
E896 has measured Lambda production in 11.6A GeV/c Au-Au collisions over virtually the whole rapidity phase space. The midrapidity p(t) distributions have been for first time at this energy and appear to indicate that hyperons different freeze-out conditions than protons. A comparison with relativistic quantum molecular dynamics model shows while there is good shape agreement high predicts significantly slopes of m(t) spectra midrapidity. data, where overlap occurs, are consistent previously...

The fixed-target MIPP experiment, Fermilab E907, was designed to measure the production of hadrons from collisions momenta ranging 5 120 GeV/c on a variety nuclei. These data will generally improve simulation particle detectors and predictions beam fluxes at accelerators. spectrometer momentum resolution is between 3 4%, identification performed for particles 0.3 80 using $dE/dx$, time-of-flight Cherenkov radiation measurements. collected $1.42 \times10^6$ events GeV Main Injector protons...
Measurements have been made of ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ absorption on $^{3}\mathrm{He}$ at ${T}_{\ensuremath{\pi}+}=118,162, \mathrm{and} 239$ MeV using the Large Acceptance Detector System. The nearly $4\ensuremath{\pi}$ solid angle coverage this detector minimizes uncertainties associated with extrapolations over unmeasured regions phase space. total cross section is reported. In addition, divided into components in which only two or all three nucleons play a significant role process....
The absorption of positive pions on N and Ar has been studied for ${T}_{{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}}=118,$ 162, 239 MeV. A precise determination made the total cross section each energy target nucleus. Comparisons are with prior LADS results ${}^{2}\mathrm{H},$ ${}^{3}\mathrm{He},$ ${}^{4}\mathrm{He}.$ In addition, presented detected multiplicities emitted protons, neutrons, deuterons following pion absorption.
We have measured the production of light nuclei (A<~3) in 11.6GeV/c Au-Au collisions at Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS). The transverse mass spectra are analyzed using a thermal fireball model, and yields for different particle species discussed assuming coalescence fragmentation as possible mechanisms. wide acceptance range 3He measurements permits broad study parameter B3 functions momentum rapidity. Comparisons with data obtained previously AGS energies suggest that...
We have measured cross sections for forward neutron production from a variety of targets using proton beams the Fermilab Main Injector. Measurements were performed beam momenta 58, 84, and $120\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/c$. The section dependence on atomic weight ($A$) was found to vary as ${A}^{\ensuremath{\alpha}}$, where $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ is $0.46\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.06$ momentum $58\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/c$ $0.54\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.05$ show reasonable agreement...
Results from a 4π solid angle measurement of the reactions 3He(π+,ppp) and 4He(π+,ppp)n at incident pion energies Tπ+=70, 118, 162, 239, 330 MeV are presented. For 3He total absorption cross sections their decomposition into two-proton three-proton components evaluated; for 4He given. The differential distributions multinucleon mode both nuclei analyzed compared to each other by making use complete set variables. data investigated signatures initial final state interactions: it is found that...
E896 was designed to search for the predicted short-lived six-quark H0 di-baryon. The goal is enhance existing knowledge by extending into regions of shorter lifetimes (approximately half that lambda) and via exploring a new creation channel, coalescence two lambdas. Two main tracking chambers are used, distributed drift chamber positioned measure low-pt high-rapidity neutral particle decay products silicon detector array which measures production at mid-rapidity. We report the first exclusive (\ensuremath{\gamma},${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$p) measurements on a complex nucleus. The $^{16}\mathrm{O}$(\ensuremath{\gamma},${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$p) reaction was measured at pion laboratory angles of 64\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} and 120\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}. Coincident protons were detected over quasifree angular correlation range using vertical array seven plastic...
Exclusive differential cross sections for the $^{16}\mathrm{O}$(\ensuremath{\gamma},n${)}^{15}$O process have been measured ${E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}$=150, 200, and 250 MeV ${\ensuremath{\theta}}_{L}$=49\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}, 59\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}, 88\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}. This measurement is first of its type to be reported energy region above pion production threshold. An uncollimated bremsstrahlung beam was incident on an ${\mathrm{H}}_{2}$O...
The absorption of 239 MeV positive pions on $^{3}\mathrm{He}$, $^{4}\mathrm{He}$, N, and Ar is studied. A strong enhancement seen in the differential cross sections kinematic region associated with free $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{-}p$ scattering. This interpreted as a clear signature initial state interactions nuclei.
Light fragments (H, $^{2}\mathrm{H}$, and $^{3}\mathrm{H}$) were detected in coincidence with high-energy (${E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}>20$ MeV) gamma rays from collisions of $^{14}\mathrm{N}$ on Zn at a beam energy $\frac{E}{A}=40$ MeV. The light fragment spectra angular distributions similar to those inclusive measurements. charged-particle fold distribution measured either or are nearly the same. These results suggest that gamma-ray production occurs over broad range impact parameters.
This paper presents a large solid angle measurement of the positive pion absorption cross section on 4He and its decomposition into partial channels. The total sections at incident kinetic energies Tπ+=70, 118, 162, 239 MeV are 35±5, 52±4, 51±5, 27±2 mb, respectively. These values lower than those reported in some previous experiments. At all fraction is due to multinucleon channels.Received 2 September 1997DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevC.58.942©1998 American Physical Society
