In this paper, we develop receiver concepts for transmission with space-time block codes (STBCs) over frequency-selective fading channels. The focus lies on Alamouti's block-coding scheme, but the results may be generalized to other STBCs as well. We show that a straightforward combination of conventional equalizers and decoder is only possible if at least many receive antennas transmit are employed, not practically interesting case pure diversity, which coding had been originally developed....
This paper reports results on simultaneous measurements of the reaction channels pp $ \rightarrow$ pK + \Lambda$ and \Sigma^{0}_{}$ at excess energies 204, 239, 284MeV ( 127, 162, 207MeV . Total differential cross-sections are given for both reactions. It is concluded from measured total that high-energy limit cross-section ratio almost reached an energy only about 200MeV. From distributions observed in overall CMS as well Jackson helicity frames, a significant contribution interfering...
Cherenkov detectors of the DIRC principle will be used at ANDA experiment FAIR. Attractive photo sensor candidates for these devices are micro-channel plate (MCP) photomultipliers (PMT). The reasons their excellent time resolution and usability inside magnetic fields, although lifetime is problematic. Various types were investigated. This paper concentrate on performance Photonis XP85112 especially its behavior. For this MCP-PMT a 33ps (σ) was measured it stable up to photon rates about 2...
We report new measurements of inclusive π production from frozen-spin HD for polarized photon beams covering the Δ(1232) resonance. These provide data simultaneously on both H and D with nearly complete angular distributions spin-difference cross sections entering Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn (GDH) sum rule. Recent results Mainz Bonn exceed GDH prediction proton by 22 μb, suggesting as yet unmeasured high-energy components. Our π0 reveal a different dependence than assumed in analyses integrate to...
Cherenkov detectors of the DIRC type will be used for particle identification PANDA experiment at FAIR. Because their advantageous properties inside a magnetic field micro-channel plate (MCP) photomultipliers (PMT) are very attractive photon sensors two DIRCs. Various types MCP-PMTs were investigated. Their gains and time resolutions measured as function magnitude direction field. It was found that with pore size ⩽ 10 μm efficient single detection is possible even 2 Tesla if close to...
The PANDA detector at the international accelerator Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe (FAIR) addresses fundamental questions of hadron physics. Experiments concerning charmonium spectroscopy, search hybrids glueballs interaction hidden open charm particles with nucleons nuclei will be performed antiproton beams impinging on hydrogen or nuclear targets. Cooled allow precision scan resonances formation experiments. momentum range beam between 1.5 GeV/c 15 tests predictions by...
Measurements have been made of ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ absorption on $^{3}\mathrm{He}$ at ${T}_{\ensuremath{\pi}+}=118,162, \mathrm{and} 239$ MeV using the Large Acceptance Detector System. The nearly $4\ensuremath{\pi}$ solid angle coverage this detector minimizes uncertainties associated with extrapolations over unmeasured regions phase space. total cross section is reported. In addition, divided into components in which only two or all three nucleons play a significant role process....
The P̄ANDA experiment at FAIR will use DIRC detectors for the separation of hadrons. compactness detector requires image planes these to be placed inside magnetic field solenoid. Due this and other boundary conditions MCP-PMTs were identified as only suitable photon sensors. Until recently major obstacle an application in high rate experiments like serious aging problems which led damage photo-cathode a fast declining quantum efficiency integrated anode charge (IAC) increased. With new...
