In this study, we have investigated the microstructure and mechanical properties of two refractory high entropy alloys (RHEAs), Ti-V-Cr5-Nb-Ta Ti-V-Cr-Nb-Ta, in their as-cast heat-treated conditions. Both show almost single-phase BCC structure, while different size volume fraction secondary phases were formed after homogenisation heat treatment. The major phase was indexed as a complex C15 Laves structure with composition (Ti, Ta)(V, Cr, Nb)2. nanoindentation mapping indicates is very hard...

Azimuthal distributions of fragments with respect to the reaction plane are studied in Ar+V system as a function beam energy. Light charged particles found exhibit an enhanced emission which increases mass detected particle. As energy is increased, asymmetry decreases. Possible mechanisms behind asymmetry, such rotational collective motion and directed transverse momentum, discussed.

Silicon carbide fibre reinforced silicon matrix composite (SiC/SiC) is a key structural material for fusion reactors to allow high temperature operation of liquid lithium breeder blankets. This research investigated the corrosion behaviour two SiC/SiC composites (using Tyranno SA3 and SA4 fibres) immersed in static at 600°C 100 hours. Utilizing immersion tests advanced microstructural analysis, study reveals considerable composites, particularly local areas enriched with residual carbon or...

Energy spectra and angular distributions have been measured for high energy gamma rays (${\mathit{E}}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}$\ensuremath{\ge}20 MeV) from proton-nucleus reactions at 104, 145, 195 MeV on targets of C, Zn, Pb. Gamma were observed with energies up to 170 MeV. The sterile male release technique (SMRT) is currently used as part of an integrated effort to control Great Lakes populations sea lampreys Petromyzon marinus, yet the effects chemosterilization on reproductive endocrinology lamprey are unknown. Male were chemosterilized with bisazir (P, P-bis(1-aziridinyl)-N-methylphosphinothioic amide) and given timed-release implants containing d-Arg(6)-GnRH I (where GnRH acronym for gonadotropin-releasing hormone) III. endocrine system evaluated by...

The Ta-Ru binary phase diagram has not been fully investigated, but shows potential for a two-phase region of A2 + B2. Given the high melting points both Ta and Ru, such an alloy would have temperature strength.
