When modeling the wind speed in some location probability distributions are proving to be a useful tool. In this study we consider four different distributions: 2-parameter Weibull, 3-parameter Gamma and Lognormal. All of them applied on data recorded at airport Dolný Hričov. Parameters density estimated by maximum likelihood method. order select best fitting distribution there used χ2−test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Akaike information criterion, Bayesian coefficient determination root mean...

In this paper we study the performance of least square method, weighted maximum likelihood method and moments for estimating Weibull distribution parameters. The comparison is based on Monte Carlo simulation, methods are compared in terms root mean error sample size n . shows that provide similar estimates. We recommend to estimate parameters due its good properties. For very small sizes method.

In the paper, we statistically analysed data on average hourly wind speed obtained from meteorological station Poprad (located at Poprad-Tatry airport, Prešov region, Northern Slovakia) for period 2005–2021. High altitude and rough mountainous terrain influence weather conditions considerably are a source of occasional risks. Finding an appropriate distribution modelling is therefore important to determine profile this particular location. addition commonly used two- three-parameter Weibull...

Abstract This study aims at fitting polynomial models based on latitude, longitude and altitude coordinates to estimate the monthly annual mean rainfall in Mato Grosso do Sul state, Midwest region of Brazil. Furthermore, its target is verify whether hydrologically similar regions provide statistical improvement regression fit for estimation. To create 32 rain gauge stations, there were used least 15 years long data records analysis with a percentage gaps most 10%. Generally, present suitable...

This present study aims to evaluate the stratospheric ozone that was continuously measured during 2016 over Campo Grande, capital of South Mato Grosso state, Brazil. To determine best-adjusted distribution describing (O3) co-generation data in 15 functions were used while modeling numerical results. Five sets used: entire year, spring (September December), summer (December March, high solar radiation data), autumn (March June), and winter (June September, low data) seasonal variation...

Rapid economic transformations, the urbanization process, and intensification of industrialization have resulted in a notable increase ozone (O3) emissions, particularly Northeast Central-West regions Brazil. To monitor tropospheric column (TCO) over these regions, Aura Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) was utilized for long-term, large-scale dynamic monitoring from 2008 to 2016. Seasonal variations O3 concentration revealed that spring exhibited higher concentrations compared winter....

The 2-parameter Weibull distribution was used to analyse the wind speed at high-altitude mountain site Chopok, situated in central part of Nízke Tatry mountains Slovakia. Analysed data has been collected over 11 year period (2005–2015) and measured under standard conditions – height 10 m above ground using calibrated anemometers.
