Hybrid improper ferroelectricity (HIF) denotes a new class of polar instability by the mixture two octahedral-distortion modes and can feature coexistence abundant head-to-head tail-to-tail domains, which domain walls tend to be charged due respective screening charges with an opposite sign. However, no such coexisting carriers are available in materials. Using group-theoretical, microscopic, spectroscopic analyses, we establish existence hidden antipolar order parameter model HIF...

Pure V2O5 is a diamagnetic layered semiconductor with many applications such as catalysis. In this paper, we study oxygen vacancy-induced changes in the atomic and electronic structures well magnetic properties of V2O5−x within spin density functional theory generalized gradient approximation. Both supercell approach virtual crystal approximation are used to simulate oxygen-deficient vacancy concentration x up 0.5. The 1×2×2 calculations one O predict that formation energies apical (O1),...

Magnetic semiconductors based on two-dimensional (2D) crystals have attracted attention owing to their intrinsic ferromagnetism and potential for spintronic devices. Here, full-potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbitals method is used explore the structural, electronic, magnetic, magneto-optical properties of CrI3 monolayer. Our first-principles calculations show that monolayer a ferromagnetic indirect semiconductor with spin-up spin-down band gaps 1.23 1.90 eV,...

A novel self-assembled hybrid nanocompound consisting of bismuth sulfide nanocrystals (Bi2S3 NCs) and Ag@SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) is used to study the enhancement photoluminescence by localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). core-shell NPs were prepared deposition silica onto Ag through sol-gel method followed modification via 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane for coming conjugation with Bi2S3 NCs. We propose LSPR effect adjusting thickness shell NP concentration. By modulating concentration...

The electronic properties of germanium monosulphide (GeS) monolayer under tensile strain were investigated using first-principles calculations. Our computations showed that the band gap GeS was tuned from 1.96 to 2.72 eV via uniaxial and biaxial in range 10%. Besides, two transitions involving indirect direct triggered when applied 3.5 9% zigzag direction, however this transition had not happened armchair direction. variations with explained a bond nature mechanism based on Heitler–London's...

We have studied the magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) of L10 Fe0.5(Pd1−xPtx)0.5 alloy films with both experiments and first-principles calculations. In visible region, negative rotation ellipticity peaks are, respectively, observed in regions 1.5–2.0 eV 1.7–2.6 eV. These are shifted towards higher energies, their magnitudes enhanced for larger x. The MOKE evolution is mainly ascribed to anomalous Hall conductivity contributed by spin-down d↓,x2−y2 bands from Pd Pt. established a close...

The basis of theoretical investigations the magneto-optical properties transition metals is outlined. It shown that an appropriate description electronic structure has to account for both spin-orbit coupling and magnetic state system. Results corresponding calculations on Kerr effect in visible regime light, as well dichroism X-ray absorption are presented, spectra found be very satisfying agreement with experimental data.
