Silicon carbide-based titanium silicon carbide (SiC–Ti3SiC2) composites with low free alloy content and varying Ti3SiC2 contents are fabricated by two-step reactive melt infiltration (RMI) thorough complete reactions between carbon TiSi2 in SiC-C preforms obtained. The densities of preform tailored the morphology volumetric shrinkage slurry during gel-casting process, pure variable volume successfully different preforms. Due to increased obtained composites, both electrical conductivity...

Porous silicon nitride ceramic with a porosity from 0–0.3 was fabricated by partial hot‐pressing of powder mixture α‐Si 3 N 4 and 5 wt% Yb 2 O as sintering additive. Irrespective the porosity, samples exhibited almost same microstructural features including grain size, aspect ratio, pore size. Porosity dependences Young's modulus, flexural strength, fracture toughness ( K I C ) were investigated. All these properties decreased increasing porosity. However, because fibrous microstructure,...

Abstract With the advantage of reversible shape‐morphing between two different permanent shapes under external stimuli, two‐way shape‐memory aerogel is expected to become a preferred for developing practical applications in actuators, sensors, robotics, and more. Herein, first liquid crystal elastomer (LCE)‐based prepared by an orthogonal heat light curing strategy coupled with intermediate mechanical stretching step. The differential scanning calorimetry, temperature‐varied wide‐angle X‐ray...

Abstract Background Chest radiography is the standard investigation for identifying rib fractures. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) detecting fractures on chest radiographs limited by image quality control and multilesion screening. To our knowledge, few studies have developed verified performance an AI model using multi-center radiographs. And existing multiple fracture detection used more complex slower algorithms, so we aimed to create a convolutional neural network (CNN),...

Porous alumina ceramics with unidirectionally aligned continuous pores were fabricated via the slurry coating of fugitive fiber. Cotton thread was coated ceramic by pulling it through slurry, and specimens produced spooling thread. The obtained porous had an average pore diameter 165 μm, 35% open porosity, a bending strength 160 MPa. It suggested that size porosity could be adjusted using cotton solids concentration respectively.

Porous ZrO 2 ceramics were fabricated by compacting a fine powder, followed pressureless sintering. Two unidirectional pressures of 30 and 75 MPa used to prepare the green compacts. The strength fracture toughness porous specimens sintered from compacts prepared substantially higher than those MPa, especially for with low porosity. However, corresponding Young's moduli identical. This caused strain failure these bodies increase significantly increasing compaction pressure. Microstructural...
