To determine whether vitamin D3 supplementation improves insulin sensitivity, using the hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp. This single-centre, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial randomised 96 participants at high risk of diabetes or with newly diagnosed type 2 to 5000 IU daily placebo for 6 months. We assessed baseline and months: (1) primary aim: peripheral sensitivity (M-value a 2-h clamp); (2) secondary aims: other (HOMA2%S, Matsuda) secretion (insulinogenic index, C-peptide area under...

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of closed-loop insulin delivery postpartum. In this open-label, randomized controlled trial, postpartum individuals with type 1 diabetes were hybrid MiniMed 670G/770G system in automode or sensor-augmented pump therapy first 12-weeks followed by a continuation phase for all until 24 weeks postpartum.Eighteen participants (mean ± SD age 32 3.5 years, duration 22 7.3 and early pregnancy HbA1c 52 6.8 mmol/mol [6.9 0.9%]) completed follow-up. In phase,...

OBJECTIVE To examine relationships between maternal glucose and breast milk composition volume ingested by infants of mothers with type 1 diabetes (T1D), to compare in women without T1D. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Midfeed samples were collected from 11 Maternal continuous monitoring data correlated ingested. Breast was compared the T1D five RESULTS Forty-seven analyzed. 90–120 min before breastfeeding fructose but not lactose, protein, fatty acids, leptin, or consumed. leptin consumed (r =...

Background: Women with hypothyroidism before pregnancy often require an increase in their levothyroxine dosage to maintain a euthyroid state during pregnancy. The objectives of this study were investigate: (i) the frequency and distribution thyrotropin (TSH) testing adjustment by gestational age, (ii) magnitude underlying etiology hypothyroidism, (iii) relationship overtreatment or undertreatment adverse outcomes among women using thyroid replacement Methods: A retrospective cohort...

Our results suggest a 4 times increased risk of neutropenia associated with piperacillin-tazobactam compared ticarcillin-clavulanic acid. Piperacillin-tazobactam should be used cautiously in children, especially those aged <13 years when long course treatment is planned.

The effects of anabolic implants, growth phase (growing vs finishing) and rate on the priorities for protein fat deposition were determined in yearling cattle. Santa Gertrudis crossbred steers weighing 290 kg individually fed diets varying forage grain content either not implanted (n = 16) or (90-d intervals) with Ralgro 13) Synovex-S 12) implants. cattle toward a similar expected final empty BW (455 kg). Initial interim body composition was measured via deuterium oxide dilution; by carcass...

Abstract Aims/hypothesis This study aimed to describe the relationship between breastfeeding episodes and maternal glucose levels, assess whether this differs with closed-loop vs open-loop (sensor-augmented pump) insulin therapy. Methods Infant-feeding diaries were collected at 6 weeks, 12 weeks 24 postpartum in a trial of use 18 women type 1 diabetes. Continuous monitoring (CGM) data used identify patterns within 3 h episodes. Generalised mixed models adjusted for same woman, repeat...

The effects of anabolic implants on rate, composition and energetic efficiency growth were determined in steers fed diets varying forage grain content. Santa Gertrudis-cross averaging 337 kg group-fed (n = 72) or individually 45) ad libitum one three either not implanted (90-d intervals) with Ralgro Synovex-S implants. Steers to a similar empty body weight (463 kg). Initial was via D2O dilution, final all by carcass specific gravity. Rate gain increased (P < .05) from 695 g/d for...

This study aimed to (1) characterize the variations in serum fructosamine across trimesters and according pre-pregnancy BMI (ppBMI), (2) examine associations between adiposity/metabolic markers (ppBMI, first-trimester adiposity, leptin, glucose homeostasis, inflammation measurements) during pregnancy. Serum fructosamine, albumin, fasting insulin, adiponectin, interleukin-6 (IL-6), C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations were measured at each trimester. In first trimester, subcutaneous (SAT)...
