To compare visual function and structural improvements in pseudophakic eyes with diabetic macular oedema (DMO) treated the 0.19mg Fluocinolone Acetonide (FAc) intravitreal implant (IluvienTM) a 'real world' setting.A single centre retrospective evaluation of patients DMO unresponsive to conventional treatment FAc according UK guidelines. Primary efficacy endpoint was best corrected acuity (BCVA); secondary endpoints included optical coherence tomography evaluations macula (a) central retinal...

Purpose: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is associated with retinal neuronal and vascular damage. DR has previously been shown to affect the photosensitive ganglion cells (pRGCs). PRGCs are essential for entrainment of circadian rhythms; thus, progression could lead worsening sleep quality mood. We investigate relationship between increasing severity, its impact on Methods: A total 430 participants DR, 303 healthy controls no ocular disease or preexisting disorders were recruited. severity was...

Previous studies have shown that patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) relatively good visual acuity can slow reading speed. The aim of this study was to evaluate the structural-functional correlation in a cohort DME and assess whether central four retinal points on microperimetry (MP4) could be used as potentially faster more reliable method assessing function than speed. The performed clinically significant DME. best-corrected (BCVA) recorded letter counting modified ETDRS chart,...

Pegaptanib has been shown to be effective in treating diabetic macular edema (DME). In the original Phase II/III trial, however, patients with ischemia were excluded. this study, we treated ischemic DME.Macular was defined as a 30% increase area of foveal avascular zone (FAZ) at 45 seconds on fundus fluorescein angiography. addition, participants had diffuse foveal-involving DME central subfield thickness (CST) >300 μm spectral-domain optical coherence tomography. Five intravitreal...

We report a rare presentation of acute bilateral peripheral ulcerative keratitis (PUK) in patient with new diagnosis untreated myeloid leukaemia (AML). To the best our knowledge, this is first PUK associated AML and we stress importance rapid thorough testing to exclude other diagnoses. The lost his vision within 10 days counting fingers. Rapid allowed good visual recovery following prompt treatment oral steroids systemic chemotherapy for AML.

Purpose: To compare retinal sensitivity and central thickness in patients with focal diabetic macular edema (DME) secondary to branch vein occlusion (BRVO). Methods: In this consecutive, cross-sectional, observational study, either DME or BRVO underwent measurements for best-corrected visual acuity, microperimetry, spectral domain optical coherence tomography. Retinal were measured using Optos Spectral tomography/scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (Optos plc, Dunfermline, Scotland, United...

The aim of this study was to compare measurements macular thickness, obtained from patients with diabetic edema, using two spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) devices. These were the Spectralis Heidelberg Retina Angiograph + Optical Coherence Tomography (HRA OCT) (Heidelberg Engineering), which is often considered gold-standard for OCT measurement, and Spectral Tomography/Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy (OCT/SLO) (Optos plc), can additionally perform microperimetry, a useful...

Light plays a critical role in regulating physiology and behavior, including both visual non-visual responses. In mammals, loss of eyes abolishes all these responses, demonstrating that the photoreceptors involved are exclusively ocular. By contrast, many non-mammalian species possess extra-ocular located pineal complex deep brain. Whilst there have been suggestions photoreception man, evidence for is limited. One approach to objectively determine presence such receptors measure brain...
