Abstract COVID-19 is a highly communicable respiratory illness caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which has had significant impact on global public health and economy. Detecting patients during pandemic with limited medical facilities can be challenging, resulting in errors further complications. Therefore, this study aims to develop deep learning models facilitate automated diagnosis of from CT scan records patients. The also introduced COVID-MAH-CT, new dataset that contains 4442...
Abstract Metoclopramide is a useful antiemetic drug that widely used in medical emergencies. This can cause extrapyramidal side effects are worrying. An 18-year-old girl student unintentionally consumed large dose (60 mg) of metoclopramide, exceeding the recommended therapeutic dose, for management nausea and vomiting. Approximately six hours after ingestion medication, she developed neck dystonia upward deviation eyes. Seeing these symptoms worrying about their child’s physical condition,...
Abstract Background Leishmaniasis, an illness caused by protozoa, accounts for a substantial number of human fatalities globally, thereby emerging as one the most fatal parasitic diseases. The conventional methods employed detecting Leishmania parasite through microscopy are not only time-consuming but also susceptible to errors. Therefore, main objective this study is develop model based on deep learning, subfield artificial intelligence, that could facilitate automated diagnosis...
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives: Lophomonas blattarum is an emerging protozoan agent that mainly causes pulmonary lophomoniasis. Given cigarette smokers are predisposed to various diseases while some conditions less common among them, the current study aimed compare relationship between smoking status prevalence of lophomoniasis in patients registered at Iranian National Registry Center for Lophomoniasis (INRCL). Additionally, we examined risk factors associated with infection these...
Toxoplasma gondii is a ubiquitous parasitic protozoan that can cause neurological and psychiatric disorders, potentially impacting human emotional behavior. This study aimed to explore serological molecular evidence of T. infection in opioid abusers northern Iran. In this case-control study, who were referred substance abuse rehabilitation centers Mazandaran Province, Iran, enrolled. Blood samples collected from the participants perform assay detect IgG IgM antibodies. A polymerase chain...
ABSTRACT “ Death Coffee ” is an incredibly potent brew with caffeine content three times higher than conventional coffees, making it the strongest coffee in world. Caffeine, a relatively safe psychostimulant substance consumed as dietary products or daily drinks, enhances physical and mental performance. According to long‐lasting experiences of consumption, intoxication cup hardly believable Iran. This paper reports five cases toxicity single within last weeks. Presentation varied among...
Efficacious therapies are urgently required to tackle the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This trial aims evaluate effects of atorvastatin in comparison with standard care for adults hospitalized COVID-19.We conducted a randomized controlled clinical on COVID-19. Patients were into treatment group receiving + lopinavir/ritonavir or control alone. The primary outcome was duration hospitalization. secondary outcomes need interferon immunoglobulin, receipt invasive mechanical ventilation,...
Leishmania, a single-cell parasite prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, can cause varying degrees of leishmaniasis, ranging from self-limiting skin lesions to potentially fatal visceral complications. As such, the has been subject much interest scientific community. In recent years, advances diagnostic techniques such as flow cytometry, molecular biology, proteomics, nanodiagnosis have contributed progress diagnosis this deadly disease. Additionally, emergence artificial...
We report the first case of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) presenting with subacute thyroiditis in Ghaemshar, Mazandaran Province, Iran. In our patient, initiation corticosteroid therapy, symptoms gradually disappeared a slow increase thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and gradual elimination thyrotoxicosis. This shows that decreased TSH persistent thyrotoxicosis may make patient's condition worse. Managing this complication can take several weeks be complicated.
Abstract Wound infections due to snake bites such as cellulitis and necrotizing fasciitis, although not common, are seen in if left untreated can cause serious complications.
Abstract Due to long corticosteroid therapy in patients with COVID‐19, case of cough, dyspnea, and weight loss, emerging pulmonary aspergillosis lophomoniasis should be ruled out.
Abstract Anaphylactic shock is an unexpected, life‐threatening, and sometimes fatal occurrence that affects patients in 75% of instances without a prior history allergies. The severity the reaction can vary among individuals. We report case who died suddenly after being stung by bees various parts his body.
ABSTRACT Hydatidosis is a parasitic and zoonotic infection caused by the larval stage of Echinococcus granulosus. Cysts this parasite involve almost all organs human body, especially liver lungs. Asymptomatic cases may develop into symptomatic pulmonary hydatidosis due to rupture hydatid cysts. Lophomonas, as causative agents lophomoniasis, an emerging protozoan that mostly infects lower respiratory airways. Clinical symptoms these two diseases can be overlapped. Herein, we describe rare...
Abstract Conium maculatum toxicity may occur by mistakenly or intentionally eating this plant. Due to muscarinic nicotinic symptoms associated with plant toxicity, supportive care and treatment atropine are urgently important.
Snake bites represent a significant public health issue worldwide, as venomous snake can result in lethal consequences if not treated promptly, including both local and systemic effects. The symptoms of bite commonly include tissue necrosis, edema, compartment syndrome (CS). While CS is rare complication following bite, it may be more pronounced children who typically have lower total dilution volume. Currently, the administration anti-snake venom prompt fasciotomy are only specific...
Abstract Metformin-associated lactic acidosis is an extremely unusual but potentially life-threatening condition. This condition typically observed in individuals who are suicidal or have type II diabetes mellitus (DM) and taken overdose of metformin. In this case, we present the instance a 43-year-old man had DM was addicted to oral opium. Following suicide attempt with metformin, he experienced symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, weakness acidosis. However, prompt effective treatment...
Opioids are a class of drugs that commonly used to manage pain due their analgesic and sedative effects. However, the high consumption opioids in community has led an increase incidence overdoses poisonings caused by various types these drugs, whether intentional or unintentional. Therefore, comprehending epidemiological features patients experiencing opioid poisoning is crucial. We decided investigate aspects with Mazandaran province, located northern Iran, during period 2020 2021. The...
Methamphetamine (MAP) is a highly addictive stimulant known to have detrimental effects on the brain and various physiological systems, including an elevation in heart rate blood pressure. Additionally, MAP use has been linked development of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), serious potentially fatal condition that notably prevalent among young individuals.
