The standard curative treatment for patients with esophageal cancer is perioperative chemotherapy or preoperative chemoradiotherapy followed by open transthoracic esophagectomy (OTE). Robot-assisted minimally invasive thoracolaparoscopic (RAMIE) may reduce complications.A single-center randomized controlled trial was conducted, assigning 112 resectable intrathoracic to either RAMIE OTE. primary endpoint the occurrence of overall surgery-related postoperative complications (modified...

A new classification for caesarean section was developed in a two-part study conducted at six hospitals. Initially, 90 anaesthetists and obstetricians graded ten clinical scenarios according to five different methods--visual analogue scale; suitable anaesthetic technique; maximum time delivery; definitions; 1-5 rating scale. Clinical definitions the most consistent useful, this method then applied prospectively 407 sections same There close agreement (86%) between five-point scale (weighted...

6 Background: The standard curative treatment for patients with esophageal cancer is perioperative chemotherapy or preoperative chemoradiotherapy followed by open transthoracic esophagectomy (OTE). Robot-assisted minimally invasive thoraco-laparoscopic (RAMIE) may reduce complications and improve functional recovery. Methods: In this randomized controlled trial, 112 resectable intrathoracic were randomly assigned to RAMIE OTE. composite primary endpoint was the occurrence of overall...

Background: Physical activity has been shown to reduce side-effects of breast cancer and its treatment. As physical levels patients with are largely unknown, we investigated these compared them women from the general population. Methods: In this prospective cohort study, participating in UMBRELLA were assessed at radiotherapy intake thereafter every 6 months up 3 years SQUASH questionnaire, which was also used a random sample Dutch population. Two case histories of pregnant women with Guillain Barré syndrome (acute demyelinating polyradiculoneuritis) are reported. The first required anaesthesia during the second trimester for a minor surgical procedure. woman was admitted to Intensive Care Unit in and ventilated 18 weeks. Both babies were carried term delivered by Caesarean section. A review management pregnancy discusses anaesthetic management, intensive care use plasmapheresis γ‐globulins. recovered from is also discussed.

Real-world data (RWD) sources are important to advance clinical oncology research and evaluate treatments in daily practice. Since 2013, the Prospective Dutch Colorectal Cancer (PLCRC) cohort, linked Netherlands Registry, serves as an infrastructure for scientific collecting additional patient-reported outcomes (PRO) biospecimens. Here we report on cohort developments investigate what extent PLCRC reflects "real-world". Clinical demographic characteristics of participants were compared with...

Abstract Physical exercise is a promising intervention to improve brain white matter integrity. In the PAM study, effects on integrity were investigated in breast cancer patients. Chemotherapy-treated patients with cognitive problems randomized 2–4 years post-diagnosis an ( n = 91) or control group 90). The 6-month consisted of four hours/week aerobic and resistance training. White was measured at baseline follow-up fractional anisotropy (FA) mean diffusivity (MD), which derived from...

Abstract The treatment landscape for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) has evolved into a continuum of care with an essential role biomarkers and molecular subgroups. Treatment guidelines are primarily based on trial results; however, populations outcomes differ from clinical practice. To support the interpretation results to assist in tailored patient counseling, we evaluated real‐world patterns according RAS/BRAF status. We included all patients diagnosed BRAF V600E ‐mutated mCRC...

Abstract Background The relationship between body mass index (BMI) and cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is well known, highlighting that a high BMI (>24.9 kg/m²) associated with an increased risk of developing these conditions. However, low (<18.5 has also been linked to the development CVD, particularly concerning heart failure, arrhythmias, vascular diseases, mortality rate following acute myocardial infarction, due factors such as sarcopenia reduced cardiac reserve.
