This paper uses two recent UK surveys to investigate the determinants of language proficiency and effect on earnings employment probabilities non‐white immigrants. We address problem endogenous choice acquisition measurement error in variables. Our results show that acquisition, probabilities, as well differ widely across immigrants, according their ethnic origin. Language has a positive lack English fluency leads earning losses.
