n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, namely docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic (EPA), reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease can ameliorate many obesity-associated disorders. We hypothesised that latter effect will be more pronounced when DHA/EPA is supplemented as phospholipids rather than triglycerides.

Abstract Today, tocopherols serve as the industrial standard antioxidant protection for fish oil omega‐3 concentrates. Synergistic interactions between tocopherols, ascorbyl palmitate and natural polyphenols extracted from plant sources have been demonstrated in model systems. The main goal this work was to develop a mix of such antioxidants with improved efficacy context preserving marine formulation comprises palmitate, rosemary extract green tea catechins. Very long chain fatty acids (VLCFA) have a length ≥24 carbons. Fish contain low levels of these acids. A commercial oil called EPAX® Evolve 05 with an up-concentration VLCFAs approximately 10 times, has been developed as dietary supplement by Epax Norway AS. series toxicological studies were performed using mice and rats to determine the safety toxicity repeat dosing gavage administered VLCFA formulation. The results suggest transient lipid accumulation in kidneys liver. Lipid was seen test...

Objective: The objective of the study was to provide preliminary data on effect a long chain monounsaturated oil rich in cetoleic acid omega-3 index, validated measure EPA and DHA blood cells, as well potential skin quality. Design: Two intervention studies were performed, each double blinded, placebo controlled, randomised nutritional trials. CetoIndex (N=55) measured index using spot collection kit (Omegaquant). ABSTRACT The maximum proteolytic activity appeared in the neutral to slightly alkaline pH range. Heat‐stable proteases were detected. Optimal was found at 8 and 65°C. dropped off markedly below 60°C above 70°C. Preincubation of muscle‐extract for about 10 min 65°C stimulated activity. Salmon muscle especially susceptible degradation elevated temperatures. No notable differences detected activities Atlantic salmon feeding stage (superior quality) sexually mature stage.

Different packaging conditions of salt-cured cod fillets were studied during 2-years chilled storage. Yield and quality Atlantic packed in sealed polystyrene boxes or traditional cardboard compared. After 4 months, yield decreased by approximately 10% further when boxes. Lipid oxidation was low after 12 no microbiological spoilage registered. The total amount bacteria the fish reduced with storage time, independent packaging. reddish color halophilic detected 7–8 weeks at 18°C, but not if MAP.

Abstract There is limited knowledge about the metabolism and function of n -3 very-long-chain PUFA ( VLC-PUFA) with chain lengths ≥ 24. They are known to be produced endogenously in certain tissues from EPA DHA not considered originate directly dietary sources. The aim this study was investigate whether VLC-PUFA sources bio-available deposited rat, fish mouse. Rats were fed diets supplemented a natural oil (FO) as source low levels VLC-PUFA, while Atlantic salmon mice higher FO concentrate....

Very long chain fatty acids (VLCFAs) are lipids found in fish with a length longer than C22. They represent minor lipid fraction composing of less 1% the total lipid. EPAX® EVOLVE 05 is concentrate VLCFAs providing roughly 10 times amount fish. Here we report genotoxocity studies performed cell culture and using rat model. No genotoxicity was noted bacterial reverse mutation test (AMES test). An vitro micronucleus assay negative 4-hr item incubation but 24-hr resulted positive signal. This...

Very-long-chain fatty acids (VLC-FA) have a chain length of ≥24 carbon atoms. They are generally not provided through dietary sources but generated endogenously, involving elongation LC-FA by ELOVL4. There is emerging substantial evidence suggesting they play important roles in tissues where naturally found, including retina, skin, testis, and brain. Mutations ELOVL4 been associated with several tissue-specific conditions, these FA may be involved the disease pathology. A lack availability...
