Abstract BACKGROUND The operative microscope has significantly advanced modern neurosurgical spine surgery but continues to be limited by high costs, suboptimal optics, poor ergonomics, and difficulties with maneuverability. We believe the novel 4K high-definition (4K-HD) 3-dimensional (3D) exoscope (EX), may improve surgical corridor through advancements in illumination, magnification, depth of field potential utilized education training. OBJECTIVE To evaluate a 3D EX system spinal surgery....

Abstract Background There is an urgent need for preclinical models of prostate cancer; however, clinically relevant patient‐derived cancer xenografts (PDXs) are demanding to establish. Methods Sixty‐seven patients who were undergoing palliative transurethral surgery or radical prostatectomy histologically confirmed, included in the study. Fresh tissue was identified by frozen analysis 48 patients. The transplanted subcutaneously and under renal capsule NSG NOG mice supplemented with human...

Abstract BACKGROUND Cerebral bypass operation is a technically challenging that requires excellent surgical visibility and efficient ergonomics to minimize complications maximize successful revascularization. Despite the operative microscope's utilization for past two generations, there remains need continued improvement in visualization ergonomics. OBJECTIVE To report positives negatives of our initial experience using novel 4 K high-definition (4K-HD) 3-dimensional (3D) exoscope (EX)...

To describe the tomographic changes in eyes with a hyperopic shift after triple Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK).Private cornea practice, Blue Ash, Ohio, USA.Retrospective case series.Patients who had previous DMEK preoperative and postoperative Scheimpflug corneal tomography (Pentacam) measurements corresponding manifest refraction were reviewed. Eyes without compared at either 1-month or 3- to 6-month follow-ups. Assessed parameters included demographics, cataract testing,...

Injury to the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN) from compression or entrapment may result in meralgia paresthetica, a painful mononeuropathy of anterolateral thigh. Surgical decompression LFCN provide relief when conservative management fails. However, considerable anatomic variability this complicate surgical localization and thus prolong operative time. Herein, we report use preoperative high-resolution ultrasonography map patient with bilateral paresthetica. This simple, noninvasive...

Abstract BACKGROUND AND IMPORTANCE Olfactory neuroblastoma, also known as esthesioneuroblastoma (ENB), is a malignant neoplasm with an unpredictable behavior. Currently, the widely accepted treatment inductive chemotherapy, or without surgery, followed by radiotherapy. Since data on genetics and molecular alterations of ENB are lacking, there no standard molecularly targeted therapy. However, commonly expresses somatostatin receptor (SSTR) that expressed neuroendocrine tumors. Peptide...

White matter tracts can be observed using tractograms generated from diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). However, the dependence of these white tract images on subjective variables, including how seed points are placed and preferred level fractional anisotropy, introduces interobserver inconsistency potential lack reliability. We propose that color-coded maps (CCM) DTI a method for visualization important tracts, circumventing bias in preoperative brain tumor resection planning.DTI was acquired...

Tension pneumocephalus is a neurosurgical emergency requiring prompt intervention. A variety of either temporizing or definitive methods was previously described as part its management. Here, we report on an off-label use bed-side device and the subdural evacuating port system (SEPS)™ for treatment tension pneumocephalus. The SEPS™ (Medtronic Dublin, Ireland) minimally invasive tool that indicated removal chronic subacute hematomas at patient's bedside. We describe this to evacuate...

Abstract Orthopaedic insoles are necessary for correcting foot deformities and providing customized support. This paper investigates the optimization of insole design through computational methods, with a focus on generative (GD) techniques. By integrating advanced methods biomechanical analysis, this study aims to develop that effectively treat disorders. To adequately account all relevant forces acting during gait, load model is created. In addition vertical forces, includes horizontal...

Right-sided aortic arch with an isolated left subclavian artery is a very rare congenital anatomical variant that can lead to steal syndrome. We present case of asymptomatic patient who was incidentally found have this on CT angiography QMRA evidence retrograde flow in the vertebral consistent phenomena. Since patients often remain until their compensatory mechanisms become compromised later life, serial monitoring using non-invasive hemodynamic studies such as may guide treatment.
