In recipients of liver transplantation (LT), surgical site infection (SSIs) are among the most common types occurring in first 60 days after LT. 2007, Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) scoring system was adopted as basis prioritizing organ allocation. Patients with higher MELD scores at risk developing SSIs well other health care-associated infections. However, there have been no studies comparing incidence pre-MELD era period since its adoption. Therefore, objectives this study were...

Data are scarce on the penetrance of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1)-related nonfunctioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NF-PETs) and insulinomas in young MEN1 patients. A potential positive correlation between tumor size malignancy (2-3 cm, 18%; >3 43%) has greatly influenced management adults with NF-PETs.The aim study was to estimate NF-PETs, insulinomas, gastrinomas carriers. The data were obtained from a screening program (1996-2012) involving 113 patients tertiary...

Abstract Background Human homeobox genes encode nuclear proteins that act as transcription factors involved in the control of differentiation and proliferation. Currently, role these development tumor progression has been extensively studied. Recently, increased expression HOXB7 gene ( ) pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) was shown to correlate with an invasive phenotype, lymph node metastasis worse survival outcomes, but no influence on cell proliferation or viability detected. Development of immunity to hepatitis B virus in cirrhotic patients waiting for liver transplantation is highly desirable. Though a double-dose regimen available, little know about its effectiveness. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) encompasses the whole spectrum of steatosis, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and NASH-related cirrhosis (NASH/Cir). Although molecular advances have been made in this field, pathogenesis NAFLD is not completely understood. Abstract Pentastomiasis is a rare zoonotic disease. Almost all recorded cases of human pentastomiasis had been incidental findings at autopsy. We report an unusual case mimicking liver tumor successfully treated by resection. This clinical presentation uncommon and it was probably caused pentastomid that exited its cyst migrated to the causing infarct mistaken as primary tumor. Diagnosis could not be made before surgery. first reported in Brazil.
