Transparent hydrogels are key materials for many applications, such as contact lens, imperceptible soft robotics and invisible wearable devices. Introducing large engineerable optical anisotropy offers great prospect endowing them with extra birefringence-based functions exploiting their applications in see-through flexible polarization optics. However, existing transparent suffer from limitation of low and/or non-fine birefringence. Here, we invent a magneto-birefringence hydrogel finely...

Most current hydrogel actuators suffer from either poor mechanical properties or limited responsiveness. Also, the widely used thermo-responsive poly-(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) homopolymer hydrogels have a slow response rate. Thus, it remains challenge to fabricate with both excellent and responsive properties. Herein, ultrafast VSNPs-P(NIPAM-co-AA) containing multivalent vinyl functionalized silica nanoparticles (VSNPs) are fabricated. The thermo-responsiveness is due mobile polymer...

Abstract High‐level safety is of vital importance to the continuous pursuit high‐energy‐density batteries in increasingly electrified world. The thermal instability and dendrite‐induced issues conventional polypropylene (PP) separators often cause internal short circuits runaway batteries. Herein, a thermally stable dendrite‐resistant separator (F‐PPTA@PP) constructed using dual‐functional easy‐to‐commercialize design strategy safe poly‐p‐phenylene‐terephthamide nanofibers plasma‐induced...

Silkworm fibers have attracted widespread attention for their superb glossy texture and promising mechanical performance. The properties can be reinforced with carbon nanofillers, particularly nanotubes (CNTs), depending on the CNT content in silk fibers. In order to increase content, lignosulfonate (LGS) was used as a surfactant ameliorate solubility, dispersibility, biocompatibility. resulting CNT/LGS nano-composite further processed through an additional purification method remove excess...

A model system has been developed to study the redox behaviors of flavin derivatives appended onto random polystyrene copolymers through "click" chemistry strategies. The results demonstrate that units attached polymers exhibit site-isolated behaviors, yielding new materials with electrochemically tunable associations (Ka(ox) = 450 M-1, Ka(red) 18 200 M-1) complementary diamidopyridine (DAP) functionality.
