症例1は59歳女性。5年間続く左季肋部から側胸部，胸背部にわたる疼痛を主訴に初診。柴胡剤や当帰湯などによる漢方治療は無効であった。初診2年後に背部を診察したところ左痞根近傍を通る幼少時の切創痕を認め，同側痞根に硬結と圧痛を認めた。当帰四逆加呉茱萸生姜湯を投与したところ，疼痛は速やかに改善した。症例2は66歳女性。7年前より心窩部・右季肋部から背部の痛みを自覚し，2年前には症状増悪のため精査されるも疼痛の原因は不明であった。柴胡剤や桂枝茯苓丸などは無効であったが，当帰四逆加呉茱萸生姜湯加附子にて疼痛は改善した。 右季肋部から下腹部に及ぶ，32歳時の胆嚢摘出術の術創が認められ，後日確認したところ，同側痞根の硬結と圧痛を認めた。
