Abstract Background CT is important to diagnose pulmonary invasive mold infection (PIMI). According 2008 European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) criteria, dense, well-circumscribed lesion(s) was listed, but the recent 2020 EORTC criteria further categorized into wedge-shaped segmental or lobar consolidation in addition lesion(s). However, there are limited data on different clinical characteristics between these two findings. We thus evaluated frequency newly added...

Abstract Background Antibiotic stewardship efforts are ongoing to improve antibiotic prescribing in the outpatient setting for patients with acute upper respiratory infection (URI). Limited data regarding predictors of prescription URI available ambulatory cancer. Methods Adult cancer who presented Urgent Care Center (UCC) or Symptom Clinic (SCC) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer and underwent pathogen panel (RPP) between September 1, 2019, March 11, 2020, prior start Coronavirus Disease...

Immunocompromised patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection often have prolonged viral shedding, and some are clinically suspected of reinfection different SARS-CoV-2 variants. However, data on this issue limited. This study investigated the variants in serially collected samples from immunocompromised shedding for over 12 weeks or relapsed after at least 2 clearance. From February 2022 to September 2023, we prospectively enrolled coronavirus...

We report a case of cytomegalovirus retinitis in hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipient during valganciclovir pre-emptive therapy followed by maribavir. Analysis UL97 mutation revealed C480F substitution associated with high maribavir resistance and low ganciclovir resistance.

Data on the coinfection of molds are limited. Therefore, we systematically investigated mucormycosis in patients with morphologically proven aspergillosis. The medical records adult aspergillosis and available formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections were retrospectively reviewed at a tertiary hospital between January 2019 July 2024. fungal culture results PCR was performed to detect Aspergillus- Mucorales-specific DNA using FFPE tissues. A positive Mucorales test confirmed...

Tuberculosis (TB) in immunocompromised patients presents a significant diagnostic challenge. These are sometimes empirically treated with quinolones before definitive diagnosis is established. However, there limited data on the impact of fluoroquinolone exposure TB and outcomes these patients. We retrospectively analysed adults missed diagnoses who did not receive anti-TB therapy obtaining positive mycobacterial culture results, from January 2011 to December 2023. Patients were categorized...

The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the post-acute sequelae of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection (PASC) are not well understood. Our study aimed to investigate various aspects theses mechanisms, including viral persistence, immunological responses, and laboratory parameters in patients with without PASC.

Abstract Although research on aspergillosis and mucormycosis confection is important to optimize antifungal therapy, data this issue scarce. Thus, we systematically investigated coinfection in patients with proven mucormycosis. Medical records of adult whose formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections were available, a tertiary hospital from August 2007 July 2023 retrospectively reviewed assess aspergillosis. We noted cultures fungi sterile non-sterile sites performed polymerase...

Our study analyzed 95 solid organ transplant (SOT) and 78 hematopoietic stem cell (HSCT) recipients with prior coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Patients who underwent transplantation within 30 days of COVID-19 infection comprised the early group, those post-30 delayed group. In no patient, whether undergoing SOT HSCT, experienced COVID-19-associated complications. one patient each from HSCT Additionally, among recipients, two six patients seven diagnosis, respectively. However,...

Hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) can cause diseases like Acute Pancreatitis (AP) and is associated with Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). Severe HTG, triglycerides (TG) >1000 mg/dl, the third most common of AP in United States [HTG-induced pancreatitis (HTGP)]. A rapid reduction TG to less than 1000 mg/dl known improve outcome prevent recurrence. Current management includes resting pancreas, fluid resuscitation, pain control, insulin, heparin drip but their slower mode action makes them desirable...
